unless the two homes are literally identical then there is nothing wrong with one being valued $10,000 higher. .

Zillow & their Zestimate are not a matter of fact, more like a guestimate. In their own fine print, their zestimates can be off by as much as +/-20%. There are several factors as to why it is off from your neighbor, including Zillow does not review anythign inside the home, updates, and etc. Mostly, they take public information (like the last sales price) and use that to calculate the value.
It is an opinion from a company trying to give a value to every property in the USA, it simply is not accurate. That is why no one in the RE industry uses Zillow Zestimate, not the appraisers & they are the ones that really matter. If you are thinking about a refi or need to know what your house is really worth, contact a local Realtor for a CMA, look at recent solds in your subdivision the past 6 months. Pay for an appraisal, it will be accurate and more up to date.

Are you talking about the Zestimate? That's just a computer algorithm. Ask a local real estate agent for a CMA to get more accurate information.

Perhaps it sold more recently for more or further back and has been adjusted favorably for inflation. Perhaps there are factors like architecture, view or yard size that compare favorably. Perhaps the house was built a few years later, has been sold less often, has a greater "walk-ability" score, or any of 1000 other things going for it.
Honestly, you are most likely talking about a 5% difference in home prices. the cut of your RE agent is 6%, and the cost of a bad one can be 5 times that.
that said, since i can't see the home, I have no idea.

why is the home next door valued 10k higher if about the same size and comperable?
