I had already been informed by my soon to be employer about the housing situation but I did not expect this. My house here in Fort Worth is like a palacial estate compared to some of those homes and at the fraction of the price.

I do not intended to rush in to buying a home and intend to live sparsely in a small apartment until I find suitable lodging, but what are your opinions about buying a home in Bismarck?

I am concerned that even if I found a home that was acceptable to me that eventually the supply of homes would reach demand and the prices would return to normal and I will lose quite a bit of money.

Is residential construction taking off, where that scenario could be a possibility happen in the near future? Is that even possible?

In your opinion should I buy if I see something I like or just wait it out?

Rent is extremely steep there as well, almost double my entire house payment here in Texas. Not to mention the few apartments I have seen online have also not been gems.

How about surrounding communities, coming from DFW I dont mind a little bit of a commute to work if it saves me money.

I have also considered buying a 5th wheel or something and taking it up for temporary housing, but my wife is due to have our first child in November and I dont really think a 5th wheel trailer is the best place for a newborn during a North Dakota winter.

0 replies Fri, 14 Jun 2013 03:44:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Looking-for-opinions-and-advice-on-buying-a-home-in-the-Bismarck-ND-market/497045/ 2013-06-14T03:44:00Z Home Inspections http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Home-Inspections/486337/ Timothy Evans of Traverse City Home Inspections did a great job identifying problems with a home deal we were working on.
