24 years left on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage (5.875%) I am 60 years old. What should I do?

I currently pay 1774 a month and add another 300. a month on the principal. By the time I retire in 6 years I hope to be able to sell the house and buy something smaller.

Should I remortgage at 4.489% APR for a 20 year mortgage? The closing costs are about $6000. Is it worth it considering the closing costs? Is there a formula to find this out?

continue paying $1700. a month mortgage. I currently add $300. each month to the principal. I will have to sell this house when I retire and move to a less expensive house.

Countrywide Short Sale Dept...need to contact them

Does ANYONE know whom in the CW Short Sale dept. to contact for an approval? Let me explain. We are the purchasers. We bought an approved short sale...few days before settlement we found out that the sellers 2nd loan was sold to CW...we have been living in a hotel for a month now and none of us (seller, buyers, agents, etc.) can get any sort of information out of CW...they say call back tomorrow, call back and they say call again on Thursday, call back and they said call back on Tuesday...finally get someone to tell us the new loan number and ever since we've called back they now say this loan number doesnt' exist...the last bit of information we got was the CW is only looking at the 1st mortgages right now, not the 2nd's...they explained that this was already an approved short sale when they bought they loan, they said they'd make a note in the file but didn't know when someone would look at it. We were even directed to go to the local CW office for assistance and they quickly showed us the door and said they couldn't help, but if we ever needed a loan, to keep them in mind (surely he was joking)

Anyone have an address, phone number, fax number, email address, persons' names, etc???

Our family of 5 has been homeless now for a month living in a hotel and shuttling kids to school everyday...it's really taking a toll on our family.

Is it better to refinnace to a 15 year fix rate(4.375%), or make an extra payment each year on my current mortgage or add extra money each month?

Limiting sold listings

Until recently it was possible to select a time frame for the sold listings in a given search area. For example I seem to remember you cold limit them to the last 6 months, a year, etc. However now the lists go back to mid-2006 and the option of selecting a shorter and more relevant time period is no longer available. Why???????????

OK, I'm not complaining, just asking what Zillow is doing? My house has been going up between $500-1000 every day this week. So does Zillow update their Zestimate that often? What goes into the equations that are changing that fast? I don't see any comparables listed that are anywhere near the Zestimates. This area is saturated with short sales and foreclosures taht are selling for $100-150,000 less than thes zestimates for this area--does Zillow ignore these in the Zestimate? Thansk for your explanation.

For refinancing. Lender is telling us that different appraisl "could" come in that much higher. We don't want to waste the $ if there's little chance of that. Thanks!
