Can the seller be charged with paying for a year of fire insurance for the buyer

Sold a house in Visalia CA, most of the normal charges were explained, half of the closing costs etc. Then there was supposedly something about reoccurring costs. I didn't catch it before closing but I was charged 580 dollars for the buyers fire insurance for the first year. It is appropriate, I have never heard of such a thing. My agent never said a word about it and says hey it was listed in the closing docs. Much less expensive charges were highlighted. Thanks for any help
