I have a Credit Score of around 720+, an okay job. I would be living in the main house with family, who will be paying rent, and the other plexes will be rented. Could the Rental Income from this property be factored into the mortgage loan approval process? I have done some research and it seems like an FHA Loan with a 5% Downpayment would be the best option. I have money in savings and investments that I could put towards the downpayment. I could also borrow money from family to put down a larger amount towards the downpayment. My long-term goal would be to save/ gather enough money to buy a single family home and keep the #Plex as an investment property. Another option would be to work my way up to investing in apartment complexes or other real estate. What would be the best option for me? What are the steps that I need to take?

5 replies Tue, 05 May 2015 23:19:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Interested-in-buying-a-Duplex-Triplex-or-4plex/585695/ 2015-05-05T23:19:00Z Granite vs Quartz countertops in kitchen remodel? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Granite-vs-Quartz-countertops-in-kitchen-remodel/481512/ I'm in the beginning stages of remodeling & granite countertops are all the rage...all of my friends have it in their kitchens. However, I don't want granite. I like to cook a lot. I'm concerned about the porousness of granite (harboring bacteria and germs), and I've been told it can't be cleaned with anything like Chlorox Clean-up, which I use daily on my counters. I've also heard it's radioactive and has to be re-sealed constantly, depending on use and quality of stone purchased. I'm looking into quartz counters, which generally don't have these issues, have a shiny surface and in my opinion, also look more modern. I'm concerned though, if I go to resell my house in the future, if not choosing the granite might hurt me in the long run? Or, are quartz counters becoming more prevalent? I recently accompanied a friend to tour some town homes & noticed the builders were using it in their models, instead of granite.

32 replies Wed, 06 Mar 2013 03:10:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Granite-vs-Quartz-countertops-in-kitchen-remodel/481512/ 2013-03-06T03:10:00Z HOA Demand Cost http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/HOA-Demand-Cost/581397/ Hi,

I'm selling a condo w/ an HOA, and the HOA Demand which was required for the sale is priced at $624. For the Demand alone - not including documents or the transfer fee. This feels like extortion. I live in San Jose, Ca and we are paying a lot in rents. So, I was thinking of buying a house and put our money towards a home mortgage than towards rent. I would have my parents and sister co-sign so their income can be included in the calculation/application process. Is this a good idea? Will it increase the chances of getting approved and for a higher amount? They would be living in the house and paying "rent," which would go towards the mortgage, bills, etc. What are some loans that I should look into?

Thank You.

5 replies Sat, 04 Apr 2015 06:33:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Is-it-possible-to-obtain-a-loan-to-buy-a-house-if-I-get-co-signers-for-their-income/581569/ 2015-04-04T06:33:00Z Non-warrantable condo.
