I am planning to purchase a condo in the south bay area, its been hard to beat out investors. but my main concern is with HOAs. How do I know if its a good or a bad HOA? Is it a good idea to try to get on the board? is there a 3rd party site that investigates HOAs and audits them?

Hi,

I bought a house with $455k and 5.375 rate two months ago. Now, there is option of split the loan to two with:
1. First loan $400 with 4.875
2. Second load $50 with 5.2 (market rate)
3. $2000 closing cost

Is it a good deal ?

Seller credit back

I am getting $6750 credit back from seller on escrow towards non-recurring closing cost. My closing cost without points is $3000. INitially I was thinking of paying 1 point to get better rate. But I am reconsidering paying points which means my closing cost is less than the credit back. Any advice on what can be done? Can the remainder be used towards any other expense such as home improvement etc?

Prepaid property taxes on refinance: how many months should be paid at closing?

I am closing on a loan (refi) next week and the pre-paid taxes shown in the closing costs are the equivalent of 6 months. Is this typical? Considering the next installement is not due till April 10 in the county where I live, I wonder if that's normal practice. By that date I should have already made 4 monthly payments, so 2/3 of the tax amount due should be in the escrow account.

Why is my house price per sq-ft is only 313 while 2 houses down at 355 and were all built in the same year?

my address is 1760 Via Flores Ct., San Jose, CA. 95132 currently worth $701000 ~ $313/sq-ft
while 3 houses down, built same year, just a little bigger at 1744 Via Flores Ct, San Jose, CA. 95132 currently worth $88900 and the price/sq-ft is $355?

I want to receive an email on the explanation and updates when it is corrected.
