I owe more than my house is worth. I want to move my family into a bigger home but fear that I will need to wait years more before I can afford it. Not being able to afford it because I owe $135,000 + $26,000 home loan. Zillow estimates that my house is worth $111,000 today. What are my best options here?

I understand the guidelines for Fannie Mae allow individuals to obtain new mortgages 24 months after they short sell a property, but how feasible is that? Are there really people who are able to obtain those mortgages?

Hi All,
I got a quote from a reputable bank on a $500,000 loan for 5.125%, 0 points, 30 year fixed. Or I can do 4.875% with 1 point. I will be putting 20% down. Does this sound like a good deal or should I keep shopping around.
