While arranging refinancing for my home, I feel more comfortable dealing with a loan officer face-to-face at a brand-name institution than I do soliciting offers online, filling out applications online, even for a well-known institution, or calling a mortgage "advisor" on the phone. Am I missing good, safe deals if I insist on meeting in person? How can I tell if online offers are legitimate?
