I just read this interesting article on the transformation of Emeryville. I moved to the area where Emeryville and Oakland meet also known as the Golden Gate Neighborhood. I bought here because I saw the value in this area and always regarded Emeryville as a very well planned town with incredible development potential. In the past three years that I have lived here, I have seen many changes. We have a new playground and picnic area at Hollis and 60th, a new and delicious pizza place called Rotten City Pizza. If you love New York style pizza, this is a place you will want to check out. The new Pulte Homes finally were built and now, even in this market, close to being sold out. Often times when I meet people in Emeryville, I feel a sense of an underground movement of artistry and uniqueness. I love my location and I enjoy the families on my street who have been there for many generations coupled with the young, hip crowd who have claimed stake on the richness of Emeryville. There are still some very interesting buys in Emeryville including the new Pulte Homes across from Starbucks ($450K range, a new condo conversion at 1266 62nd St (1 bed at $275K), Lofts on Park Blvd (David Baker design) and many exceptional deals in the Watergate community.

What's behind the kitchen wall?

Hi, your kitchen looks amazing! Great job.

I'm in the process of putting up new kitchen wall cabinets in my plan D unit a couple of floors below your unit and I have one quick question. Do you know what is behind the kitchen walls? We were trying to screw in the plank that will hold my cabinets to the wall, but we couldn't get the nail to go all the way through into the wall. We didn't apply pressure in case it was a pipe, etc. Did you come across the same issue?

Any insight would be helpful!

Community Emergency Response Team - training classes for 08.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a program taught by the Emeryville Fire Department under the guidance of Fire Chief Steve Cutright and the supervision of Captain Jason Beach , will expand to three public classes in 2008.

2008 Schedule of classes.

Three CERT training sessions are scheduled for 2008 as follows:

January Class: January 24 ? March 15

8 consecutive Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Saturday March 15: Final exercise from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a graduation ceremony.

May Class: May 31 ? June 28

5 consecutive Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday June 28: Final exercise from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a graduation ceremony

July Class: July 24 ? September 13

8 consecutive Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday September 13: Final exercise from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a graduation ceremony

Two refresher classes for current CERT members will be announced at a later time.

With such a strong program and 95 Emeryville residents and employees already certified, Emeryville is well under way to becoming one of the best prepared cities for a large scale disaster in the East Bay.

Voters Endorse Atkin, Bukowski and Davis; Utility Measure Gains Approval

Emeryville voters sent a strong message of support for the City?s current direction on November 6th, by easily re-electing three veteran City Councilmembers for new four-year terms and rejecting bids by several challengers.

Incumbent council members Ruth Atkin, Ken Bukowski, and Nora Davis all won re-election to a new four-year term on the City Council. Bukowski and Davis were first elected in 1987; Atkin in 1999.

?Emeryville voters made it very clear that they are pleased with the direction the City has been going the last decade,? said Jason Crouch of All Emeryville Properties and Chairman of the Board of the Emeryville Chamber of Commerce. ?These election results demonstrate that the majority of the Emeryville electorate understood who the best qualified candidates for the City Council were, and they voted that way.?

?We?re delighted with these results,? Crouch continued. ?Emeryville remains in good hands. When you look at the long track record of positive accomplishments by the three incumbents ? a free citywide bus shuttle service; growing shopping and dining centers; improved schools; well-funded public services; a strengthened tax base and increased housing options, to mention only a few ? it is not hard to figure out why a majority of the voters chose to stay with Ruth, Ken and Nora. The Chamber was proud to endorse them all.?

Measure A, the utility user tax measure, passed overwhelmingly, with almost 86% of the voters giving it the thumbs up. City Manager Patrick O?Keeffe expressed his appreciation for the role the Emeryville Chamber of Commerce played in helping secure passage of Measure A: ?I appreciate the Chamber?s endorsement of Measure A,? O?Keeffe said. ?The 86% positive response reflects in part your support of the measure, and the partnership between the Chamber and the City. I look forward to our continued good work together.? ....

Gallery Opening Success!

October 18 we had our first successful gallery opening in our new office. Hooray! To all those who attended it was really great to see old friends and new faces and celebrate the opening of our new office. The two local artists featured and whose work is still showing are Pouke Halpern and Michaela Gardner.
