I have been living in my unit for last 3 years. Recently landlord sent me notice that they will not renew my lease I should vacate my apartment after lease. This notice was sent to me exactly 60 days before lease expiry.

This was big surprise to me since there was no such thing going on until now. And I just had baby who is not even month old.

I requested the manager to consider my situation and make an exception so that lease can be renewed. But no avail, they blatantly refused to renew the lease. I have no issues with this but manager sent me notice saying there will be people in my apartment to take measurements for cabinets so that they can place the orders. But in this case when I am still living in the apartment and the renovation is not being done for me, does the landlord have any legal right to enter apartment? I read through the California Civil Code Section 1954 and as per my understanding, landlord does not have a right to enter in my case.

Any thoughts?

5 replies Tue, 27 Jan 2015 11:18:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Does-landlord-have-legal-right-to-enter-apartment-if-they-have-given-me-notice-to-not-renew-lease/573576/ 2015-01-27T11:18:00Z Apartment charging us for plumbing costs for no fault of ours. http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Apartment-charging-us-for-plumbing-costs-for-no-fault-of-ours/567975/ Hello,
I live in an apartment in Sunnyvale.

In my apartment, there was a blockage in the toilet. Their 30-year fixed rates are comparable to my big national bank's rates, except that they offer something in cashback (say 5K).

My question is -- what are the risks of going with a smaller, less reviewed lender. Clearly, the big banks have their act all together, and in fact, may have more hurdles in the way of approving my loan. They also have no cashback offers. Is it worth going with the less known lender, just for the cashback? My agent says that since he has a close relationship with the lender, he can get things pushed through quickly and reduce the financing contingency, and thus make a better offer.

Seeking advice on how to make this decision...

thanks in advance,
S

12 replies Fri, 24 Oct 2014 18:26:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Going-with-a-relatively-small-lender/564139/ 2014-10-24T18:26:00Z Do you use other client's reviews of agents to help you decide who to hire? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Do-you-use-other-client%27s-reviews-of-agents-to-help-you-decide-who-to-hire/545399/ 4 replies Fri, 13 Jun 2014 17:29:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Do-you-use-other-client%27s-reviews-of-agents-to-help-you-decide-who-to-hire/545399/ 2014-06-13T17:29:00Z hi, I want to know what happens if I extend the close of escrow for 2 days? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/hi-I-want-to-know-what-happens-if-I-extend-the-close-of-escrow-for-2-days/562511/ Do I get a penalty, or what is the worst going to happen?
