She did and then after a while, my current company provided me the better rate ($70-$100 less per month). However, when I sent that to my broker the person was saying it is not the same day and she locked the rate. We never asked her to lock the rate in the first place and she just said in the email whether to proceed with the application. Does the broker has to lock the rate to proceed with the application? Now, we are going to close in 10 days, when we asked the broker to go with the 5/1 ARM so at least we can get the lower rate, the broker is insisting she has to go back to the same date and will give us the rate for 5/1 ARM. We both have 800+ FICO scores and we feel like we are stuck with this broker and will lose ~$6,000 in the first 7 years. Please advise.
