The townhouse that we are interested in was recently inspected with no major structural issues. The home next door; however, is in poor shape with missing flashing/siding and holes in and around the roof. The holes are large enough indicate that animals and bugs may be present in the home. Since these two homes are technically connected, I am wondering what we should ask from the seller and if it is a wise decision to buy a home directly next to a recently foreclosed home.

2 replies Sun, 17 May 2015 15:09:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Buying-a-Townhome-that-is-directly-next-to-a-foreclosure-that-is-in-bad-shape/587258/ 2015-05-17T15:09:00Z Homes http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Homes/585797/ I would like to know what the financial process contains of when a client rents to buy.

3 replies Wed, 06 May 2015 18:12:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Homes/585797/ 2015-05-06T18:12:00Z Good Faith Estimate http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Good-Faith-Estimate/584398/ Where on my GFE does it show what I need to bring to closing?

3 replies Sun, 26 Apr 2015 17:25:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Good-Faith-Estimate/584398/ 2015-04-26T17:25:00Z What first time buyer programs are available for a veteran with fair/poor credit. The seller has accepted the offer. After inspection it was revealed that plumbing behind the walls is using Polybutylene pipes. The joints are copper so I am assuming this a later version of the Polybutylene pipes. I know the ones with white joins had huge issues. I haven't seen any leak in the home but I cannot trust Polybutylene and will need to replace the plumbing ASAP. Can I ask the seller to give credit for the plumbing of the home? Or if he is not ready for that, can I ask him to reduce the price of the house? Also, if I re-plumb the home, can I add the replacement cost in my loan? I have an approved FHA loan and I know FHA loans can incorporate repair and modification costs. This is a condominium home though.

Also, this is a 2 floor condo townhome with 3 beds and 2.5 baths (1280 square feet). Does anyone have any idea about the cost needed to change the plumbing? I'm planning to use PEX or CPVC pipes.

Thanks and any answers will be appreciated!

4 replies Wed, 04 Mar 2015 00:03:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Polybutylene-Plumbing-Replacement/577668/ 2015-03-04T00:03:00Z How likely is it to get closing costs paid? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/How-likely-is-it-to-get-closing-costs-paid/576420/ I'm looking to buy in Germantown or Gaithersburg MD. The basic questions are:

1) How to estimate occupancy?
2) Are there any chances to get FHA 203k loan straight after coming to the US? 3.5% down payment is a thing to fight for. Maybe there is a type of contract, so if I get fired and have to leave US, then my home goes to the bank for some negotiable reward. It should be reasonable for bank, and I understand the risk.
3) What are typical needs of renters? Should I find a home near railroad station and bus station, or in the silent neighborhood? Should it be close to the mall?
4) How much does due diligence of the house cost? How are so many foreclosures in the area going to impact my property value, and shouldn't that be priced in?
--Does anyone know the master development plan for the area? It seems pretty rural to me right now. Are the high prices in anticipation of future development?
