I need to sell in the next 5 months or so, as my husband had a job transfer. The house needs some pretty costly repairs such as leaky roof, water damaged ceiling, plumbing issues, and cosmetic work. Should I try to sell the home "as is" or try to make some of the repairs before listing it? I would be happy to get $110,000 for it considering it needs repairs. Also, do realtors charge any up front fees? Or do they only get paid if the house sells? Thanks for any advice.

17 replies Mon, 07 Jan 2013 00:23:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Should-I-try-to-sell-my-house-as-is-or-spend-a-lot-of-money-making-repairs-and-then-sell-it/473369/ 2013-01-07T00:23:00Z How can I post an open house on my facebook page? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/How-can-I-post-an-open-house-on-my-facebook-page/529135/ I am having an open house at one of my listings this weekend and I wanted to post a Zillow add on facebook with the information. Thanks for your help.

1 reply Thu, 20 Feb 2014 01:30:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/How-can-I-post-an-open-house-on-my-facebook-page/529135/ 2014-02-20T01:30:00Z Agree on Price Before Realty Contract? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Agree-on-Price-Before-Realty-Contract/525131/ We are in the process of looking for a realtor to list our home. My question is, should you always agree on a rock-bottom selling price with a realtor, prior to signing a contract? In other words, if I get unrealistic offers from buyers, am I still obligated to pay the realtor at the end of the contract period if I say no to those offers?

I'm just not sure how all of this works, and I don't want to sign on the dotted line with anyone until I fully understand what I'm getting into. Thanks in advance for your help.

8 replies Mon, 20 Jan 2014 16:17:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Agree-on-Price-Before-Realty-Contract/525131/ 2014-01-20T16:17:00Z Paying off mortgage help http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Paying-off-mortgage-help/474951/ I sold a home in NC in 2002, i used a realtor/attorney for closing. In 2008 the bank filed a foreclosure. How can i find out the details of the sale? Is it possible the lawyer didn't pay off the mortgage? Now the IRS says i owe taxes on the canceled debt.

1 reply Fri, 18 Jan 2013 22:38:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Paying-off-mortgage-help/474951/ 2013-01-18T22:38:00Z A Combination of Hardwood and Tile flooring can boost a home's selling price by 11% http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/A-Combination-of-Hardwood-and-Tile-flooring-can-boost-a-home%27s-selling-price-by-11/264770/
You might want to consider upgrading to hardwood? both for current enjoyment of home as well as resale potential down the road. The luxurious look and feel of hardwood is on the upswing. The latest trends are towards the more exotic woods such as Brazilian Cherry, Bamboo, and Tigerwood.
