She had an interest only loan on the house when she passed. The value of the home is around 60K with outstanding mortgage of $44k. The loan is up early next year and with his SSI (he's 70) as his only income along with my help financially. I called around to see if a reverse mortgage would work and I was told no.
The bank told me the only option is for me to refinance the house under my name. I have no interest in living in the house and I'm in another state. If I do, then I will be tied to this house and there are plenty of other houses his area that are not selling due to the ecomony.

4 replies Wed, 18 Mar 2015 23:49:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/No-other-options/579405/ 2015-03-18T23:49:00Z I was wondering what lenders offer special mortgages specifically to doctors/dentists. http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/I-was-wondering-what-lenders-offer-special-mortgages-specifically-to-doctors-dentists/525079/ I am gathering details to purchase a home. I am a dentist and have recently found out from colleagues that certain banks offer special mortgages to doctors and dentists who have graduated in the past seven years. Specifically I have found out that key bank and wells fargo offer mortgages with as little as 5% down and no PMI. Does anyone know of any other banks that offer anything similar?

19 replies Mon, 20 Jan 2014 04:09:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/I-was-wondering-what-lenders-offer-special-mortgages-specifically-to-doctors-dentists/525079/ 2014-01-20T04:09:00Z good hard money lenders in Seattle http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/good-hard-money-lenders-in-Seattle/522344/ Currently own 5 rentals and would like to purchase a couple more before rates go up. Idea is to use hard money lender to purchase at foreclosure auctions, then refi shortly afterwards.

Any suggestions for hard money lenders in the Seattle area?

9 replies Tue, 24 Dec 2013 04:07:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/good-hard-money-lenders-in-Seattle/522344/ 2013-12-24T04:07:00Z good hard money lenders in Seattle http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/good-hard-money-lenders-in-Seattle/522344/ Currently own 5 rentals and would like to purchase a couple more before rates go up. Idea is to use hard money lender to purchase at foreclosure auctions, then refi shortly afterwards.

Any suggestions for hard money lenders in the Seattle area?

9 replies Tue, 24 Dec 2013 04:07:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/good-hard-money-lenders-in-Seattle/522344/ 2013-12-24T04:07:00Z Which lenders do fannie mae home style renovation in Seattle, WA http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Which-lenders-do-fannie-mae-home-style-renovation-in-Seattle-WA/572757/ I'm looking for a purchase and renovate loan which can close quickly. I do mean major: roofing, flooring, and framing inside - plus probably plumbing and electric. They are not currently habitable. Asking is $140k.

Annual income is good, current condo payment is small (& will provide rental income once new home is ready, 1-2 years?) & credit scores are in the 800-range, so the hangup is getting financing to fit the property itself. We could make about $60k cash available, but would prefer to either 1) offer it down for financing the post-renovation "completed" amount or 2) keep it & finance "as is" - renovating over time with cash (preferred).

Seller financing makes me very nervous, & I'm not very familiar with renovation loans or lease-to-own.
