What Washington DC neighborhood has best "up and coming" growth potential?

I'm interested in taking advantage of the $8K first time home buyer tax break and purchasing a small home or condo in the Washington DC area. I want something that will grow in value in the long term. What neighborhood do you think has the best growth potential? I'm thinking about the condos by the new Nationals Stadium (where the construction is currently on hold) as the first place to start to rebound when the market comes back?

Government is not getting smaller, land is a scarce resource... is the Hill (and DC in general) better off then most of the U.S. in the area of housing values?

Why does Zillow recognize the new houses in my neighborhood?

I live on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. My house is a near a new EYA development, which Zillow does not display. On Zillow, the area is shown as a parking lot. These houses are selling for $600+ which should be positively impacting our house's value.

When will the EYA development show up on Zillow? The houses are located at 4th and L Street, SE.

What Homes are selling - I see some trends.

We track sales in our market every week. We have seen a definite trend here and I wonder if others see something similar.

In Bethesda and Chevy Chase MD 30% of the Sales very consistently every week for the last 5 months have been on the market only 14 days or less! While only 8% of the active listings are that new. The rest of the market here takes well over 100 days on the average if they don't sell in 2 weeks. So its like 2 separate markets hot sales and 'seemingly endless sales"

IS THIS TRUE ANYWHERE ELSE?

My son, his wife and two small children, now rent an apartment in Clarendon (Arlington) but need more space and a lower monthly rent. They are considering buying, but they are not sure they will stay in the D.C. area for more than 2 more years. My son is a lawyer (Harvard Law School, 2006) who chose public service (Dept. of Justice, Environmental Crime division) over a private firm and is really feeling the squeeze, financially. Any suggetions? (I heard about the palisades area of D.C. at a party last evening, way out here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!)

Property at 4608 Massachusetts Ave, NW

I have concerns about the property/addition that is being built at 4608 Massachusetts Ave, NW. On the face of it, this property appears to be in violation of District of Columbia Municipal Regulations 223.2.a, 223.2.b, 223.2.c and 223.2.d. These regulationss are for R-1 and R-2 Districts which include Spring Valley. It specifically states that buildings, when viewed from the street should not substantially visually intrude upon the character, scale and pattern of the houses along the subject street frontage. The regulations also stipulate that the new structure should not unduly compromise the use and enjoyment of neighboring properties. From the looks of this, this property appears to have violated this regulations for neighbors on both sides of this structure.

Please join me and other neighbors along the Spring Valley and Upton Streets and Tilden in calling your council person.

Anacostia, Hillcrest, Deanwood

Why are Hillcrest and Deanwood areas grouped under Anacostia? Is it because portions of those areas share the same zip code? The demographics as described by Zillow are not really indicative of Hillcrest or Deanwood and provide unfair perspective to any potential homebuyer attempting to use Zillow to make a decision. I would suggest taking a look at http://www.hillcrestdc.com and other area websites. Zillow is way off in their classifications.
