Neighborhood Information

The demographics information on Wilmore seem to be really outdated. I noticed that the data was based on the 2000 census, but it's 2008. The Wilmore neighborhood is an up and coming diverse neighborhood that people are investing time into because of its proximity to uptown. Many young professionals that are single, married and married with kids are moving into the neighborhood. This had drastically changed the neighborhood in the last five years.

If you are relocating to the Charlotte area then ask your realtor about the lower South Carolina property taxes. You are 15-20 miles away from uptown Charlotte & its all interstate from Ft.Mill, Tega Cay, Lake Wylie. Lower taxes means you can buy more house in SC than NC or pocket the difference for a rainy day.

There is lots of new construction in Charlotte. Most buyers walk in and decide to buy without consulting a Realtor of their own. I'm curious if you would buy new construction without using your own Realtor and why? What are the advantages and possible disadvantages?

Hi All,

I am new to this forum so be nice to me :)

I recently moved to Charlotte, I am Single and struggling to find where people hang out, how do people make connections.
I am in my 30s, so not really looking for anything crazy, just regular, fun, normal people to connect with.
Also, does anyone here have any experience with The Relationship Company Dating Service?
I saw their ad on the TV and just curious if people have had success?
Anyway, hope to make some new friends here.

Cherry neighborhood

Cherry neighborhood is tucked between the new Metropolitian site (Kings) and by Myers Park on the Queens Road side. For years, it has been plagued by absentee landlords, and scattered units run by Charlotte Housing Authority. A few years ago, Stonehunt development bought like 14 acres from Cherry Community Organization and tore down many of the old run down residences. (this project has stalled) People have been able to get into Cherry for good prices recently and I think the area has good potential to continue to clean up. However, the Charlotte Housing Authority does not manage their sites well (they mow, but never sow seed, so its weedy or mainly dirt), and as you can guess, there are some unsavory residents and guests hanging out on site doing unlawful things. CHA mostly turns the other cheek to all of these issues despite calls, etc from neighbors. Does anyone have suggestions for this kind of situation or know any information about plans for the area?

Wesley Heights Historic Uptown Neighborhood Comeback

Many neighborhoods surrounding Uptown Charlotte are seeing a huge resurgence and gentrification. Wesley Heights and several other Historic Neighborhoods were featured in a 6-page article in Realtor Reflections Magazine, January 2009 (a publication of Carolina Regional Reator's Assn.). Let me know if you would like more information on Historic Wesley Heights (Circa 1911) or if you want a copy of the article.

I will also post photos of a home (5,000 square foot duplex) we just completed with approval of the Charlotte Historic Commission at the corner of Woodruff and Lela, adjacent to the greenway, with views to Uptown Charlotte.

Yes, you heard me right and it is great news! While it is quite unfortunate the state of affairs of most of the country?s major real estate markets, Charlotte, NC is booming. We are not flying through the statistics with the speed of a super hero, but we are definitely up. For many years, Charlotte and the surrounding townships have had slow steady growth and that trend is projected to continue for years to come. It is a wonderful time to buy real estate in the Charlotte area and it is not a bad time to sell either. Inventory is typically selling for, on average, $4,500 below asking price, so in the grand scheme of things that is not bad at all.

Zillow has incorrect Highland Creek Schools Info

Zillow lists a ton of socioeconomic information about the neighborhood of Highland Creek. However every single piece of school data, like names of elementary school, middle school, high school are wrong or missing.

Is there any way to change this?

I can't find an "edit" button on the overall neighborhood page, though I did edit mine. If you need better school data check out 5726 Swanston Dr.

Olde Providence?

This site is misleading. OP is a specific neighborhood off of Old Providence Road, Rea and Colony. It's an affordable, older neighborhood surrounded by McManions. These demographics and home values are all wrong. Not sure what this Olde Providence North and South means. It's misleading a just plain wrong.

Does anyone else see whats happening here?// Not just our neighborhood but in the general area, rise in crime, resturants closing, no help for our schools. What is the future for us? Should we get out while we might still be able to? What do you think?
