Detroit and Phoenix are two of the most economically troubled areas in America today, but their future prospects are considerably different.Detroit is the only metro expected to slip from the top 10 during the next two decades. It's projected to fall from 10th place in 2005 to 14th place in 2025, losing 59,500 residents during that span.Phoenix, on the other hand, is likely to bounce back strongly from its current problems. Its projected 2025 population of 6.9 million will elevate it to seventh place, up from 13th in 2005.

Should I buy I house with an addition built 30 years ago with no building permit?

I am looking at a house to buy in Phoenix, AZ 85008. The house was built in 1953 with 1829 sq.ft. The owner added an extra room and 1 or 2 baths without getting a permit. My realestate agent says its no big deal, that almost everyone does it. This seems strange. What should I do?

Why so many bank owned homes and so few listed for sale?

In my small neighborhood there are at LEAST 4 bank owned properties sitting vacant, 3 of which have for sale signs on them, and yet there is only one listed on ZILLOW? Are they "really" for sale, or is this just for looks while they wait for some sort of government relief?

The one without a for sale sign has been vacant for no less than 6 months and there has never been a for sale sign posted. There was a lockbox and someone came to clean up the house and yard right before it went to auction, but after it didn't go (presumably for the balance of the loan that was way more than it was worth) it just sat there empty ever since. It did come up on the MLS when we were searching for a new home, but like I said, there has never been a sign posted on the street and it doesn't come up for sale on Zillow.

Do the banks really want to sell these properties or do you think they are in "we couldn't care less" mode right now, waiting for it to get so bad that the government HAS TO do more to fix the situation for them?

We didn't buy at the top of the market because we knew that wasn't going to last. We sat it out, waiting for the drop. Now that the drop is here, it's like nobody wants to let go of the properties.

There are so many places around downtown Phoenix, that aren't talked about unless you live in the area or know somebody who does and tells you about it. So, I thought to share these great places with anyone interested in discovering Urban Phoenix. Perhaps you're thinking about moving there or already have but don't know where to go? When you decide to give those places a try, I hope you will want to keep going back. And here is one: Cibo, my favorite Italian restaurant. This place is almost always packed. The food is outstanding, atmosphere is pleasant. The restaurant is house conversion, which makes the atmosphere so much more cozy. I love their pizza, but find myself mostly getting their crepes. They have a nice patio, on First Friday's they may have a live bank playing outside. It's a little hot to sit on the patio, but I don't mind it. The restaurant itself is kind of small so you might need to settle for a patio sitting, but it's all worth it.

should we rent to person who depends on child support?

Please advise me for the above question. The potential renter has 5 kids under 18 who depends on child support and nothing else. Should I just tell them they are not qualify due to financial dependency?
Is there other way that I should consider this person?
