Where to buy in Houston, affordable and close to med center.

My wife-to-be and I are looking seriously into buying at the end of the the year (2009), she works in the Medical Center area and as of now I'm running my own business from home.

We don't want a commute (for her) that will kill our time together as she works long days.

Also we don't want to live in a bad part of town.

As you can see we're just starting out with a budget under 150k.

Any suggestions?

Close to Hulen Mall, multiple commercial establishments, 6 banks, plus many restaurants. 2 Jewish Synagogues, 1 United Methodist Church, 1 Non-Denominational Church within 3-4 blocks as well a Regional Library and Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (Texas Boys Choir included). Also, close to Texas Christian University.

At some point in the last month, Zestimates for a bunch of homes in Austin, Texas have disappeared. Why?

My zillow info on my home has two different estimates one is 428,000 and another shows 498,000.

I believe the $428,000 zillow estimate is based on the bottom floor which was 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. 1n 1990 Another Master Bedroom, A media room and a massage room with a 6 person steam shower was added and I believe that is reflected in the 498,000 estimate. Is there a way to reconcile these estimates?

2009 has proven to be a very odd year for real estate! The numbers are not lining up with 2008 and WOW the number of properties that are available are up by 83 (7.3%) yet the number of new listings taken in August is down 116 properties. The number of new listings is down from 411 to 295 in August which is DOWN 28.5% But, we still have an increase in our listing inventory (properties available to purchase)….what will the 4th quarter bring????
