Our house is being foreclosed. Where can we find a ranch home for rent near Fenton/Manchester/Gravois areas? We have 2 poodles, no kids. White, late 50's, clean, reliable, adults.

Where to buy a multi-family?

I am looking to buy my first house and I have decided to buy a multi family. I have a slew of questions so I guess I'll start. First what area should I buy to maximize income? I definitely want to stay less than 200,00. I really like the Soulard area but it seems like all the multifamilys in that area are really expensive. The South City area have a lot of nice places but the fact that it has a lot of places on the market makes me think its not good plus it doesn't seem like the best area. Second should I go for a duplex or 4-family for my first place. I'm young and unmarried so for myself I don't need a big place but also if I had just a duplex that has 2 or 3 bedrooms I could still have roommates and have room to grow into. Lastly at most real estate offices do they have agents that specialize in multifamily? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Condo market in the Central West End

Hi,
I'm going to be a first-year med student at Wash U this fall, and I'm trying to decide whether it makes more financial sense to buy a condo or rent an apartment for four years. Any advice would be appreciated. For instance,

Is the condo market in the Central West End area stable? Am I likely to be able to sell easily at a good price in four years?

Are current condo prices up or down?

Is anything happening in the Central West End in the next four years that would cause a significant change in property value in the area?

St. Louis Neighborhoods

I am currently looking at purchasing a condo in the DeBaliviere place neighborhood. I looked at a lot of neighborhoods (Wash Ave, De Mun, South City) and have found that this area is the best match.
It's close to the Metrolink, near Forest Park, and really close to schools, hospitals and local business and entertainment districts.
It's a really safe and quiet neighborhood, and offers residents a lot of variety in terms of housing options.
This is one of the places I'm thinking about buying from. Check it out!

Hi there,

Have never posted on Zillow before and I am not sure how many responses I will get, but it's worth a try. My husband and I currently looking for our first home, and I am partial to South City. Of course, everyone loves the St. Louis Hills area, but it's a little pricey for us. Before I went to vet school, I had the opportunity to rent a friend's home for about a year while she was out of the country, and we rented on Gresham. That was 7 years ago. I loved the area, always felt safe, etc. Now things are a little different when we have to think about property values, and depreciation, and other such things. We found a house that we really like on Quincy, right off of Gresham. I don't want to offend anyone, but my only concern is all of the rental property nearby on Loughborough, and the neighborhood across Loughborough. Am a little concerned this area might depreciate over the next 5 years and then drive down our property values as well. Any thoughts from any locals? Any advice? Not really sure how to look for statistics on crime.

I'm from St. Louis, and am moving back in the next few months. I work at an area hospital, and have been thinking about moving to the Shaw neighborhood. Is it safe, and without alot of riff raff?

I grew up in Baden and bought my first house there for $16,000. It was a great place to grow up then the neighborhood got infiltrated with the wrong kind of people and now it is a drug store. Its a shame! Taz

Holly Hills or St Louis Hills???

Holly Hills is defined by Bates on the North, Holly Hills Blvd on the South, Grand Ave on the East and Gravois on the West.

Seems to me someone is confusing St Louis Hills with Holly Hills. What do you think?
