How do I find out what others are paying for homeowner's insurance in my area? Is there a tool available online? I'm paying $2400 a year for a $152,000 loan. Everyone I talk to has much lower rates for much higher mortgages. My house is a 100 year old brick home and the company (starts with G and has a lizard mascot) says the style of the house is the reason for the high rate. I plan to shop around, and need advice as to what is a reasonable rate.

We have a 2000 sq ft house which has 4 beds and 1 full bath on 2nd floor and a half on the first floor. 2 good sized bedrooms on 2nd floor and 1 pretty small one. No master currently. We were thinking of taking out that 4th bedroom and making a master bath and walk-in closet out of it to make a master suite. Would changing from a 4 bed/1.5 bath to a 3 bed/2.5 bath with a master reduce the value of our home? Probably will cost 25-30,000 to do this. I dont mind not getting all of that back if/when we sell but I dont want to lose on top of that expenditure. thanks!

This is a beautiful home and it has been completely gutted, ready to be restored and remodeled, I need financial help getting the electric and plumbing done and material for finishing the interior to move my family in, I have a low income so it is very hard for me to afford these requirements, what help can I get for this problem?

13217 windygate ln. 63146 has 3 baths, and finished basement , 2 car rear
entry garage..., patio and 3 walk out windows upstairs...downstairs there is a fire window, laundry room, family room and 3 finished rooms to use as you like

Contractors for rehabbing homes?

I am looking for general contractors to help me rehab homes in the St Louis area. These are all short sale / foreclosed homes which need rehab for rental.

Ideally the contractor is familiar with brining the homes up to Section 8 housing requirements. Thanks.

House is single family 1.5 story and has two baths and two kitchens with split electricity, water, gas(two elect. meters, two water meters, and two gas meters) and has four bedrooms. It has a side entry for upstairs but also access from living room downstairs. My question is would it help to sell it with one kitchen and five beds or leave it the way it is in case someone wants to rent upstairs.
