The home inspector for the bank said everything was fine. This past week I find out the there is major rotting of the back side of the unit and 2 decks as well as flooring for the second floor has to be replaced. Question, do I have any legal protection regarding this bad inspection ? An engineer stated that there wasn't any flashing ever installed and the upstairs deck was installed with "NAILS" any advice would be appreciated.

5 replies Wed, 22 Jun 2011 02:03:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Bad-inspection-at-townhouse-purchased-in-NC/404485/ 2011-06-22T02:03:00Z Is Home Warranty like Insurance? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Is-Home-Warranty-like-Insurance/350137/ I have a silly question. What's the difference between home warranty and home insurance? Is is required that we pay for the home warranty?

12 replies Mon, 17 May 2010 02:15:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Is-Home-Warranty-like-Insurance/350137/ 2010-05-17T02:15:00Z To Own or not to Own http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/To-Own-or-not-to-Own/250214/ I purchased a home in 2003, I was only 21 my first home buying experience, I didn't want to go overboard so I stayed well below my budget and ended up buying an old home naive I didn't think about repairs and maintenance. My interest rate is 5.5% and my payment is only $550 including tax & insurance. I had to move to a different town because of my job. I still kept the house and I am currently renting it. The problem is that being a landlord is becoming a headache the house was built in 1971 and due to poor maintenance, repairs are costing me a lot. If I invest at least 15k I could possibly do a good makeover, but I am not sure that I should invest on this house if I know that I will eventually have to sell specially when I won't be able to flip it. I've considered putting the house on the marked as a sell as is, my neighbors have sold their homes for 100k to 120k... i owe a little over 60K...Is this still a good investment nowdays?

7 replies Fri, 26 Jun 2009 19:18:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/To-Own-or-not-to-Own/250214/ 2009-06-26T19:18:00Z
