Currently set up as a two family with a basement. We are hearing mixed things from different architects – the most concering are the Fire code issues (Sprinkler System and Building Access (Handicap access to garden level unit).1. Some architects are saying that the whole house will need to be updated to 2008 building codes. Sprinkler systems would need to be installed throughout the whole house. Others say that we can install sprinkler systems according to 1968 buildings code. In this case, sprinklers would need only be installed throughout hallways. but we will need a fire escape from 2nd floor. 2. Some architects told us that the entrance to the basement level would need to be updated for handicap access. Right now, it's a couple of steps down from the curb to the entrance. Other architects say it's not necessary. Why am I hearing all this discrepancy? Has anyone dealt with this, in regards to the sprinkler fire escape systems and entrance situation?

2 replies Fri, 09 Aug 2013 03:11:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Converting-2-family-to-a-3-family-2-story-house-with-basement/505972/ 2013-08-09T03:11:00Z Homebuying Vs Building Violations http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Homebuying-Vs-Building-Violations/514978/ To buy or not to buy? Or dark chocolate bamboo with frameless doors, really modern look with light beige quartz top. My dilemma is my appliances are fairly new and are in bisque and I'm not fond of stainless steel since I have kids and know that cleaning and maintaining is difficult. Our home is townhouse and from 1985. it's a new neighborhood with mostly young families moving in. That's why I'm leaning toward the modern dark bamboo. And one more thing; the sink that I have now is bisque and is an over hang, I wanted to save it and reuse it since it seems more sturdy than the stainless under mounts that I am offered for free. My floor is natural pink tile, which one would it fit with?

3 replies Tue, 17 Sep 2013 12:18:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/dark-vs-light-kitchen-beech-shaker-natural-color-vs-dark-mocha-bamboo-frameless-style/511676/ 2013-09-17T12:18:00Z 12 Homes Made From Shipping Containers http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/12-Homes-Made-From-Shipping-Containers/508796/ Worth sharing, great use of containers!
http://design-milk.com/12-homes-made-from-shipping-containers/

0 replies Tue, 27 Aug 2013 17:07:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/12-Homes-Made-From-Shipping-Containers/508796/ 2013-08-27T17:07:00Z
