I have looked up my properties and location is incorrect.Size, Value many instances with several properties.No way to contact by phone number or email on website.A prospective buyer was discouraged by info given incorrectly on the Zillow site.This site can be very informative if info is correct otherwise it can also prove to be detrimental to other situations if the info is incorrect.

Surviving a Home Inspection

Depending on what side of the fence that you're on, a Home Inspection could be something that you welcome or dread. From a buyer's standpoint, it is an opportunity to lower the asking price of a house by having someone to nit-pick every little thing that is wrong with a house. From a seller's standpoint, it is like going to the dentist for a multiple root canal with no anesthetics. In fact, it is neither. Home Inspectors are only providers of facts. A good Home Inspector is neither for nor against the sale of a house. Lets face it, we get paid whether the house sells or not. Buyers probably stand to gain the most financially from a Home Inspection. However, sellers can gain too. If a seller knows in advance what a buyers' Inspector will be looking for, they can head them off and relieve a great deal of tension and anxiety. With that in mind, here is what I look for when inspecting a house, and what a seller can do to help to alleviate some of the negative comments that might appear on their report.

Of course, I am only listing the items that an average homeowner can look into themselves, and possibly repair with minor effort. Fixing these things will not eliminate the need for a Home inspection. I do not recommend doing anything that might be dangerous like opening your main fuse box to expose the internal wiring or climbing up on your roof to fix loose shingles. There are some things that you can inspect yourself and repair with minimal effort that will lessen the amount of listed defects in your report.

How do you notify Zillow that the recent purchase price of a home is incorrect?

I recently purchased a the home at 1250 Laukahi street, Honolulu, HI 96821 and the site is listing the recent purchase price as 1.5 million. I wish I had this kind of money, but I don't. The price should be $775K. Please correct this information.

Now, my original message dealt with a suggestion for modifying the Zestimate algorithm (see below). Zillow's Melanie M. posted an appreciated reply (also see below), but didn't address the issue so I am posting again.

You can read the actual suggestion in the original post below, but I thought it important to mention that this is beyond the "why is my property tens of thousands less than my neighbors." This algorithm fix could resolve many of the larger discrepancies and could potentially diffuse some of your unhappy users.

Melanie, I did read the info on the link you posted, but it generally deals with how the Zestimate is formulated and not the accuracy review procedure. Adding this additional logic would certainly make your site a lot more accurate and would help to maintain some consistency. Those of us with homes valued well below smaller comps (in my case 20-56% less) would appreciate it.

Here's a suggestion: add an algorithm that checks surrounding, comparably sized/amenitied properties and adjusts values accordingly. For example, it would find that 99% of the surrounding, similarly spec'd homes are valued at nearly 1.5 times mine. If nothing else, it could at least put a bold, asterisk note on that property to let others know of the major discrepancy.

The logic is pretty simple and I'd bet there are many techies out there that would happily volunteer to help write the code.

suggestion:

homeowners and zillow should have the ability to lockout agents who have either hijacked a home or merely failed to update their listing feeds. it seems silly that there is no way to stop an autofeed from taking over a home regardless of a homeoner's wishes.

a reset listing button where i dont need to delete each photo or data point i manually entered might also be good because your site glitches out on deleting things at times.

I am a member of a small MLS why cann't zillow work something out to take our information and use it. Get the word out. They are talking about going regional but like most things in the real estate business they are behind the curve. you are National but your information is out of date. Do you have something in mind for that kind of service to real estate agent groups.

Update House Information

I just noticed that our home is estimated much lower than the same size and type homes on out street. In looking I see that our bathrooms were only 3.4 when it was always 4.5 from new. I did make that change but was curious how to have the property re-adjusted now? Or will it automatically do so soon?

Firefox does not display properly--Site Bug report

The Zillow site recently changed. The browser Firefox does not display correctly. Enter a home, click on the home and the data is blank. To get to data, various buttons on the left must be tried just to get the year built to show up. Firefox is more secure than Explorer and should be displaying better than it is.

I would like to correct the location of my home. Re: 37740 Palo Colorado Road, Carmel, CA 93923. Both 37752 & 37748 are located correctly. If you go due west from 37748, I own the 2.5 acre vacant lot on the south side of Palo Colorado Road. Its address is 37744 Palo Colorado Road, Carmel, Ca 93923. The next parcel west of our vacant parcel is our home at 37740 Palo Colorado Road, Carmel, Ca 93923. All the other description is correct. If you look carefully in about the center of the parcel, it is possible to see our home.

Every Contractor dot com

Have any other contractors had experience with this company ?
About 4 months ago they called me up and wanted me to join their lead referral program.
And I could do it for $1000 per year.
Yeah right I said, , I said NO !
They called back every single day.

Oh, we have job leads in your area and we have no General Contractors to fulfill them.
Can you help us out ?
I said not for $1000 !
Oh we would be willing to drop that $1000 fee to get you on board.
So I said ok.
They charged me a one time $95 fee to check my background, and then they would start sending me leads.
Well time went on, and no leads.
Every 2 weeks they called :
What kind of work do you do,
Can you start tomorrow,
We have no one in your area, and we are in DESPERATE need of a General Contractor in your area to "take care" of "our clients".
This has been going on every 2 weeks for the last 4 months.
I have not seen one job lead.

What did they tell me ?

Oh we have dedicated work in your area, contracts signed, ready to go.
Can you start Monday ?

Sure I can, I only have half a million in work going on as we speak, I can take care of your needs.

Ok great then, all we need is your credit card number to charge me $2500 per year and I am good to go.

Good to go where ?
They were begging me :
Oh, we so desperately need a General Contractor in your area, we will send you $75,000 of contracted work tomorrow !

We have no GC's in your area, that is why we need YOU !
And then come to find out, they charged me $95 for a background check, to be on their leads program, and dropped the $1000 fee.
Guess what,
I am on their "overflow" leads program.
So if their other GC's who actually did fall for the $1000 program are too busy, I would actually get a lead ! ! !

Please, I am posting this on Zillow to help out all my fellow Contractors, don't fall for this.

How on earth can we contact someone in charge of Zillow without having to filter through all these topics? There should be a phone number or email address to help people. You have the wrong house in our neighborhood shown as ours, even in the aerial view. I want it corrected.

I submitted the proper information to MLS for a feed to Zillow. I receive daily emails saying that "Your scheduled DataLink process has completed". Why do I not see any of the listings for my office still?
