http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/First-time-home-buyer-advice-please/275310/ Hi,<br/><br/>&nbsp;&nbsp; My wife and i are planning to buy a house in about a year to save up $25-30,000 for a down payment.&nbsp; We're looking at house worth around $270-300,000.&nbsp; I'll be at my job for about a little over 6 years by then, making $35,000 after taxes, and my wife, &nbsp;one and half years making around $36,000 after taxes.&nbsp; I have a credit score of 637 with a record of <a href="http://www.zillow.com/mortgage-glossary/Bankruptcy/">bankruptcy</a> for a little over 6 years now, my wife has great credit with a score of 758.&nbsp; We should have our credit cards bills paid off by the end of this year, and we should only have our federal school <a href="http://www.zillow.com/mortgage/">loan</a> bills of $45,000(mine), and $30,000 (hers), and one car payment of $350 a month by next year.&nbsp; My question is, since she has better credit, is it better if she only applies for the loan?&nbsp; What are our chances of getting a good loan with low interest for a first time buyer?&nbsp; If anyone can please advice or suggest where to start, so we can better prepare ourselves in a year's time when we have our down payment saved up, i'd very much appreciate the help.&nbsp; Thanks in advance!<br \><br \>6 replies Fri, 04 Sep 2009 00:56:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/First-time-home-buyer-advice-please/275310/ 2009-09-04T00:56:00Z if there is a home which has "make me move" how do I inquiry on purchasing this home? Looking at purchasing a new or a relatively new home(after 2000).&nbsp;I knew these two cities since&nbsp;some friends have own houses there where lot of new or relatively new constructions are available.
