Where do we sit with the 1st Time Homebuyer ($7500) credit?

I recall Congress considering making the credit part of the new stimulus package....essentially the tax credit would not have to be paid back.

If you're in an area where housing prices have stabilized (as best as possible), $7500 bucks is a pretty sweet incentive - you can even claim it for 2008 on a purchase this year.

Can anyone shed more light on the situation?

FHA Loan with Downpayment Assistance Programs???

Does anyone know if the programs are up and running? I saw on some websites that the downpayment assistance programs are not being used anymore because of risk factors. I am planning on buying a house in Southern California. Any input???
