Home Purchased from Family - not eligible for $8k?

My wife and I purchased a home in Mass from her mother. I read the form and further investigated the 8k tax credit and realized that we are not eligible. Do you see a change in this rule any time soon? We are not in the business of buying and selling and truly feel that we are being short changed. Thanks~

If I received the tax credit although working as a contractor in Iraq, will I have to repay it?

In July I purchased a home and qualified for the tax credit. I am a U.S. citizen (former military) working in Iraq as a contractor supporting the U.S. Military. The home I purchased is my primary residence, but until my extended work is finished here, I come home on r&r every 4 months or so. Although I carry a Military I.D. (CAC) Card, I am still here in a support capacity as a civilian. Will I have to repay the money back to the IRS due to the fact that I'm not living in the house full time?

can a appraiser be held accountable for there numbers?

when building a new house i had to provide my blue prints and cost break down for the build. The bank told me that they look at the numbers to make sure they are accurate and I;m not asking to borrow to much money or I haven't asked for enough.
If the appraisal comes back and gives me a number of say 550k and my number says 750k to build. Can I hold the appraiser to his number and go to him and say show me houw to build this house at his number. If he cant show me then he;s wrong and should be held acconabe fo this. am i correct?
