I have a job lined up in Mira Mesa and I'm looking to move to Temecula from LA. Is this a good idea

I have a job lined up in Mira Mesa and I'm looking to move to Temecula from L.A with my wife and toddler. I really like the Temecula, it seems very family oriented; however, I fear the drive may be too crazy. Is there any other area close to Mira Mesa that are not too expansive? I could only afford up to $370,000 homes and prefer 4-5 bedrooms. We need to live in a safe and quiet community and with good school rating. Please help.

We would like to move from Lake Arrowhead, CA to the Temecula, CA area, however, we have heard that the decline in prices may continue for several more years. If that's true, we'll rent vs. buy. Are there any trustworthy indicators on the market in the Temecula area?

Because of a divorce my husband is going to short sell the home. Only he is on the loan and title. Is there a way that I can buy the home? I would qualify by myself and for the sake of the kids, I want to stay here.

2 part, accepted counter from bank REO, Can they back out now?

We accepted the terms of the counter offer from the bank, sighned the document and submited within hours of recieving the counter offer. We are a bit worried as we have not heard back from the bank in several days. This was the part we are concerned about below.
