Does anyone know of any good foreclosure sites for central Maryland? I'm not interested in going to the courthouse and trying to buy a house at auction. I'd like to search for houses that are on the market at a good value. Someone said that realtor.com lists them but where? Is there any county sites that list them?

I second realtytrac. Most cities require foreclosures to be listed in a news media for a certain period of time. Ours can be found at the County Courthouse here in Charlotte. It also has mortgage amounts, pre-foreclosures, etc. For bank owned properties (REO's) just simply search the lenders websites, or go to HUD.gov, Fannie Mae, etc.

Hi amass553,

www.realtytrac.com is a good site and is not expensive, but beware forclosures are sold as is. There can be second mortgages or equity lines that were never recorded and you would be responsible for those. Also have a title and lien seach done, only to protect yourself.

Here's what you do, go outside, pick up a rock and throw it. First house you hit? Will be one of the following according to some here 1) in foreclosure 2) pre-forclosure or 3) will be in foreclosure by spring. Good luck to you!

In Tennessee, all forecloseure properties have to be noted for three weeks in local paper. Once you see a property you are interested in... read which lawyer is handling the case (which will be located in the paper) and go to their website or call to see if you can get any additional info. Also, this would be a good time to go to court house to find out if there are any liens on property and see previous mortgage amount to determine if it's in your range. Houses are usually auctioned at county court house steps for remaining mtg balance plus any legal fees incurred. Keep in mind, most times funds have to be delivered within 24 hours of purchasing at court house and many mortgage companies will not be able to process a loan that quickly.
