In Seattle there are nice coffee shops in many neighborhoods, and there are great homes near them. Today, after a long walk today, I had a great cup of coffee in Mt.Baker at Mioposto. There is more to a coffee shop than coffee. A great coffee shop has food, light, and people watching. A great neighborhood as some of the same qualities, and the best neighborhoods include various price ranges and style of houses. In the next couple of months, when Seattleites come out of the cold and bloom into spring, there will be an amazing number of good deals on great houses. If you are interested in something in Southeast Seattle, I will be willing to talk to you about other great coffee shops and homes.

I am guessing you are an engineer and work in the Seattle area. Typically engineers do not want to mow lawns and pull weeds, so that narrows down the search a bit.

Personally I think you need to buy a Houseboat that I will be listing in mid to late March on Lake Union. Then you can get the BEST coffee making machine, sit on the top deck and take in the life on the lake. There is no better place in the world to enjoy a cup of coffee than sitting on your houseboat on Lake Union. No lawn to mow, amazing neighbors and an oddity I have discovered, people on the lake wave at everyone.

Depends on how much you dislike coffee, how much commercial traffic affects your "opinion" of "best home", and weither you are partial to certain brands of coffee, or are only looking for a location where you can have someone prepare a meal for you most hours of most days at a reasonable price.

But then wouldn't you prefer walking distance to a buffet?

Most homes that are near comercial districts are way too noisy for me.
