In the Destin area where I work and sell, we have sugary white beaches as beautiful as any in the Caribbean and emerald clear water. We're not as congested as many other parts of the state and we're definitely not as expensive. Great restaurants are everywhere as well as terrific outlet shopping. Go to YouTube and put in Destin Florida and you will get an idea of how fabulous it looks. We have a new hospital and many doctors. The crime rate is one of the lowest in the state. Come see us and find out for yourself. How do I know? My husband and I retired to the area 4 years ago from Atlanta. With a boat and dolphins in my backyard, I know this is a great place to retire! My Grandfather had a place in Melbourne. It was very retirement friendly and Cocoa beautiful. Central Florida has many retirement communities but it depends on what you are looking for in your retirement area. It ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/What-is-the-best-and-safest-and-most-economical-place-in-florida-for-retirees-to-live/196050/
That's a hard question. It depends on what you require in a home. Will it be a house or a condo or even manufactured housing? Do you want to be near parks and theaters, major hospitals, a major airport, the ocean or the gulf? Perhaps you will find the least expensive housing in places that are far from some of those type of amenities. As far as safe goes, that is almost impossible to guarantee but much of Florida enjoys a relatively low crime rate. But perhaps you are thinking safe from hurricanes and storms. There are no guarantees there as our inland areas have been hit very hard by storms in the last few years. But we don't have earthquakes and when a major hurricane is headed our way we have notice days, if not a week or more in advance.

<p>I've lived in the Miami (Coconut Grove) area, the Gainesville area in north Florida and I now live in the Tampa Bay area. We've got some of the best beaches, major league football and baseball, art galleries, universities, theatres, a renowned symphony orchestra and many other wonderful things to see and do. I can find condos for well under $100,000, houses from about $130,000 up and other forms of housing in our area. It's a wondrful place to retire. Before you decide, atake a look at what we have.
Thu, 05 Feb 2009 20:44:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/What-is-the-best-and-safest-and-most-economical-place-in-florida-for-retirees-to-live/196050/ 2009-02-05T20:44:00Z With the current market most ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/What-is-the-best-and-safest-and-most-economical-place-in-florida-for-retirees-to-live/196050/ With the current market most areas in Florida have become economical. I believe the best place is dependent upon desires. I am favorable to my market, Naples and Marco Island, due to low crime, excellent weather, lack of big city congestion and area beauty. If you are interested in learning more about the area please contact me.
