What about the foundation for a manufactured home? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Is-buying-a-manufactured-home-a-good-thing-What-about-the-foundation-for-a-manufactured-home/233639/ Zillow Advice | Zillow Real Estate Manufactured home foundations ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Is-buying-a-manufactured-home-a-good-thing-What-about-the-foundation-for-a-manufactured-home/233639/ Manufactured home foundations are totally different than a site built home.  The typical site-built foundation is a perimeter stem wall system.   The majority of the weight from the roof, walls, etc. is supported by these stem walls.   A typical  manufactured home has a concrete runner system.  A manufactured home has a steel frame system under the flooring.  This frame system will transfer the weight of the home away from the exterior stem wall.  Stem walls on the typical manufactured home foundation are for looks only.  Between the steel frame and the concrete foundation you will find a peir system to transfer the weight to from the house onto the foundation.   I could go into great detail about manufactured home foundations.  If you have other questions about manufactured homes, or financing them, feel free to contact me at any time!
