I am not an attorney, but I don't think that this should be your problem. You cannot let your ex wife continue to ruin your credit. There should have been some provision in the divorce decree about how the house was to be dealt with. If you ex has breached that original agreement by not paying as agreed, take her back to court. I believe that a court can compel her to refi if she can or to sell to get your name off. This situation could go on through the remainder of the mortgage term. Do something about it now. Make it her problem legally. When you go to court get two statements from two brokers or banks that say that they would lend to your if your credit did not include that delinquent mortgage from your ex. Your ex does not have the right to hold your credit hostage for the next couple decades. If you go to court, you may even be able to get some of the dings removed from your credit if you file a protest with the credit agency about the reported late payments if the court rules that your ex was responsible in the first place. It is worth getting legal advice now to get your credit back as soon as you can.

My presumption is that this is your idea of humor, but it's off-base. I've seen enough of your other "don't pay your rent/mortgage and then skip out" posts that I'm starting to question how much is a poor attempt at humor and how much is a real lack of ethics/morals disguised under a thin veneer of sarcasm.

The only thing worse is that someone actually gave you a "thumbs up".

Tell her that you will make the mortgage payments and have her send her portion to you. Tell her that you will make up any shortfall.

Meanwhile don't send in any payments in -- just bank what she sends you.

Will she be surprized when she gets the sherrif's notice tacked on her door!

If your name is still on the mortgage, you are still liable for the debt. Thus it sounds correct that her late payments should be effecting your scores since you're both responsible for it.

I don't have any advice on what to do - I assume her poor credit prevents her from getting the mortgage refinanced in her name alone. Horrible situation to be in.

As long you are listed as a co-borrower on the loan you are stuck. The existing mortgage company has no interest in removing you from the loan because you have the ability to pay and they want their money.
Sorry I can't offer any resources but this is a sticky mess and you are not alone.
