If you're still looking to move to the Pittsburgh area and need a home <50K then you're right up my alley. I work in the Pittsburgh City area and the Eastern Suburbs (bought a place in Chalfant, near Forest Hills for 40k and will be able to sell it with at least 30k in my pocket when the time comes). Better than just panning the map, you can use the filters and set the price range to 5000 to 50000. I prefer to check the "list" box as it is easier to go through a list than units marked on the map. (If you "right click", you can "open in a new window", and thus not lose your place; you just close the window to get back to the list for the next). Such an approach allows you to see where the units in your price range are fairly quickly and allows you to compare the areas.

But before buying, always make sure you visit the area in person at various times, and that you actually get out of the car and walk the neighborhood.

If you pull up the Zillow map of the area, cruise around the neighborhoods (on line) and see where (if) you find properties in that price range.
