Do you know how much you own them? It might be worth giving them a call. Many IRS offices are very nice and are willing to work with you if you sit down bring your records and make payment plan. As long as you keep you end of the plan up, they will allow you to start moving forward with a clean slate. IRS as an agency is a bit scary, but visit a local office and most of the people there are very nice. You can work this out and may be able to even get some of the buyers tax credit back. I think you would be eligible to claim it if you fit the other criteria, but you need to find out what you owe and go from there.
