The auto market has a seasonal cycle -- very busted. Can economic exegencies bust a cycle? I think yes.

By the way, long-term, I think you are right but for very foolish head-in-the-sand reasons. If you are a player in Phoenix, as you state you are, you have left some good cards on the table while mouthing off on Zillow.

It would be really great to have you silent for about six months and then return to Zillow with tales of great real estate conquests. Instead, we have the lame, emasculated pessimism of a crippled and defeated former "ubermensch".

Shiller observes the data, and doesn't generally predict. In many areas, price drops have slowed, in some, prices have come back up a bit.

It is spring, when we always have the most buyers. We have an 8K incentive for first time buyers. We had moratoriums on foreclosures by most sources for several months, so honestly, I'd expect the markets to look better for those reasons.

Now, the moratoriums are over. Foreclosures are heading for records again. Spring will turn into late summer and fall...

A trend, my friend, is not made in a couple of months, most bear markets have bear market rallys. The black friday stock crash, the market rebounded 50% over the next several months. Then it headed for the floor. Ditto the tech stock crash...

Lets see in a year what turns out.
