You furthest stop on the shoreline is New Haven. Then it's Milford, Stratford, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk, Darien, Stamford and Greenwich. Depending on how much you want to spend on a home and what you are looking for in your home will point you to the town you want to purchase in. I have a listing in Fairfield for $609,000 that is less a mile to the train station. I am also going to be listing a beautiful 3 bedroom, 1.5bth colonial in Stratford soon for around $275,000 that is about 2 miles away from the train station.

There are a couple of options.

Metro North has three separate lines. The Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines.

The New Haven line runs basically parallel to to I-95. You'll find stops in Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk etc, right up to New Haven. It depends on how far you want to commute. It's always a trade-off between home prices and distance. The closer you are to NYC, the more you'll pay for housing. If you are commuting to Manhattan, check out the schedules and times. THIS LINK should take you to a Metro North Map. The New Haven line and it's branches are in RED.

One of the branches splits off at Norwalk and runs north as far as Danbury.

The other option would be to live in the Danbury area (prices are very affordable and drive about 15 minutes to Brewster NY and take the Harlem Line which is in BLUE on the map. There are a great many Danbury residents who do this. The SOUTHEAST station near Brewster has a huge parking lot and it's a starting point for many of the commuter trains which means you'll be able to get a seat.

In Danbury we have some great homes available at great prices.

There are also stations in Greenwich, Stamford, Danbury, Redding (I think), I'm not sure about Fairfield and Wilton, but I believe there are stations there as well.
