I'd love to see if one of the pictures that I uploaded or was associated with my profile was featured on Dueling Digs (i.e. opt to publish a daily round-up of ranking on one's profile for the pics that are being voted on). Even the ability to know that a: the picture was being associated with dueling digs would be nice!

I am really impressed with your "pool section" for my first experience.
We are putting a pool in a Florida house with a reputable firm and I
wish I knew about your site. It would have been so much easier.

Love this feature, great for ideas on decorating and getting a reality check on how much is too much for your value range. I think it could be improved by allowing the user to also limit duel by region so that you can see what is winning your zone.

BTW, you've got the information on 08054 schools wrong. They have their own school district and then attend Lenape Regional NOT Willingboro. I'll bet this has affected your Zillow value for every 08054 home. W'boro has low-scored schools vs. Lenape Regional is a top state-ranked district. Please review and correct...

I love this feature...even despite that I don't like Zillow! You could improve this feature by allowing the option to duel by region. $500K in NJ vs. $500K in TX seems very desparate. And option to print the picture would be nice. Overall, its a great way to get improvement/staging ideas.

(1) A geographic filter (zip code, city, state, etc.) is a must for comparing apples to apples - a 250k home in New York can not be compared to a 250k home in Amarillo, Texas.

(2) A home type filter (# of stories, condo, single family, etc.) will also help.

Great idea, though, for providing decorating ideas for people looking to renovate their home's looks.

Two thoughts:

1. I posted my home a month ago and have yet to see any of the rooms in dueling digs. It is fun but disappointing not to find yourself. Have the owners input (instant entry, no waiting for Zillow to go thru the 1000 of daily entries to find my house and make sure it is entered and entered properly) which rooms they want to enter in dueling digs and give them a way to find the results of their duels (owner should not be allowed to vote for themselves).

2. Have some sort of competition, at the end of some period, you could have the best room, it could lead to best house, it could be for fun or maybe you might approach HGTV and the winner(s) could get some sort of flash (couple second) promo. It would help the both the owner and zillow.

I own an antique home which I desire to keep as much original as possible. The home is 100 years old in 2 years. California bungalow style. Single story. What can be done to enhance it's value? Here's wha's already been done.
1. Electrical - completely upgraded to current standards. Many outlets and extra circuits added.
2. Plumbing - Replaced with all copped lines. Sewer lines and drain lines completely replaced and upgraded.
3. Kitchen - The home had 1950's style cabinets when we aquired the home 22 years ago. This was ripped out and replaced with up-to-date cabinetry. This was a mistake on our part. It should have been done with period style cabinets. But, the cabinets do look good and were expensive.
4. Wooden floors (real hardwood) were installed in the appropriate rooms.
5. .Exterior wood was completely stripped, sanded, primed and painted.
6. Interior woodwork was painted when we acquired the home. This woodwork was stripped down to bare wood, sanded and varnished back to it's original luster. This included the wainscoat panneling in the dinning room.
7. New roof.
8. Termite tenting.

Planning on:
1. Installing new counter tops in kitchen and batch along with new fixtures (sinks and faucets)
2. Have the original clawfoot bathtub refinished again but this time with a more permanent finish.

Windows: We keep getting calls from window installers wanting to replace our original 100 year old windows with some new energy efficient types. The sales people do not seem to understand the significance of retain origonal antique parts on this home. The original windows stay! As do the original entry doors. Even the screen doors are original (except one new which was added 22 yedars ago and now need replacing. They just don't build them like they used to.).

So, what can be done to enhance the value of this 100 year old home. New carpeting? OK.
