Zillow Advice: Pro-to-Pro - I can't get agents to come to company meetings. http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/I-can%27t-get-agents-to-come-to-company-meetings/362752/ Zillow Advice | Zillow Real Estate Just a couple of thoughts...What ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/I-can%27t-get-agents-to-come-to-company-meetings/362752/ Just a couple of thoughts...

What if you sent a personal email to a handful of agents each time you had a meeting in which you explained what they (specifically) could gain from it. A personal touch that lets them know that they will be missed never hurts.

Or as mentioned before, have them take ownership of the content. For example, if you are giving a training on negotiating repairs, ask a few agents to come and give their experiences to the group, open it up for questions, and let them learn from the real life experiences of their peers. You or your guest speaker can still have control of the discussion, but the agents will feel involved in what is being discussed.

Remember sitting in those high school or college classes and the teacher droned on and on? Most of us hated that kind of instruction. Adult learners (in this case Realtors) are no different than h.s. students; in fact, they are probably worse with answering cell phones, texting, working on contracts, etc. If all they here is "blah, blah, blah," you lost them even before they entered the door.

Good luck. My former broker battled this constantly. You can offer different things to try to help. I know one reason why I go to office meetings is because everytime I have a new listing I can share it at the meeting with all of the other agents at the meeting. This gives my property more exposure. Maybe try that. Maybe also offer to bring in speakers.

Good luck! Are they at a time of day that conflicts with meeting with clients or other work functions? Are they on a consistent schedule so that people can plan for/around them?

How much ownership of content is there? Are your people responsible for any of the meeting content, or just to show up and sit? Doesn't have to be large or complicated content, just helps if they're involved vice being "talked at". But since the Office Assistant is now closer to the donut store, we have to suffer without our beloved bagels.

One thing I've learned about Realtors is they never turn down free food.

Do you use your office meetings to network new listings, price reductions, and prelists? And is this information shared with other offices within your company (if there is any other offices). This is also an incentive for agents to 'show up' for weekly meetings as they can get their properties sold more quickly.
