Zillow Advice: Zillow Questions - Zillow Asks: How do we improve listings quality? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ Zillow Advice | Zillow Real Estate After 2 full years since ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ After 2 full years since asking this question, most of the issues are still "not resolved". Yes, there is a "report a problem with listing" button on each home details page now, but buried where most people don't see it. Yes, the syndicating source for the listing is now shown at the bottom of the home details page, but most people have no clue it is there, and no clue what to do with it.

And the "redundant listings" and duplicate home details pages?

It really is not that hard to reconcile addresses better. "Ave", "Avenue", "Av", "Ave." etc. are all the same word! And adding a #A or "unit-A" or "suite-A" or "Apartment-A" or "Apt A" should not create a redundant record for a single family zoned property. And you can see how all those different forms of unit number is creating redundant records for condos and rentals for no practical purpose and no apparent reason. It is easy to program for these cases. It does not take hundreds of lines of code. It is mostly a database look-up issue. Each time a redundant home details page is flagged, the programmers should be checking the look up table for redundant terms to make sure they keep the list up to date and as complete as possible.
Sat, 02 Mar 2013 18:18:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2013-03-02T18:18:00Z Allow a button to filter ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ Allow a button to filter out "pending" listings. I mean, if you can't bid on it, why see it? If it does come back on the market, just list it as such. It is frustrating enough that it almost ruins the utility of your site, which can be great.

Cheers,
Elle Sat, 14 Jul 2012 20:31:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2012-07-14T20:31:00Z Stop compromising the security ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ Stop compromising the security of individual homeowners by requiring a phone number.

Stop any unrequested linking that is currently being done with other sites.

Stop preventing homeowners from changing the option to work with buyer's agents. IT is the most accureate and the most up to date listing database. Listing which expire or sell should be automatically marked accordingly on Zillow.

I also agree with Tamela. It can be overwhelming to keep up with so many ad websites and an auto reminder might be nice. However, with so many listings, unending email reminders could also get exhausting. How about a first of the month email reviewing current listings and their status?
Fri, 29 Jun 2012 19:36:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2012-06-29T19:36:00Z Place an agent is the contact ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/
Place an agent is the contact on the listing, and rederict all vistors to call the agent for REAL TIME Facts about the property.

Frankly I think it is okay that zillow does not have real time info, it leaves VALUE to realtor and zillow.
Mon, 18 Jun 2012 07:44:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2012-06-18T07:44:00Z Hi,I just saw the "Listing ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ Hi,
I just saw the "Listing Report" that you sent out for a property that just closed. I marked it sold with the correct sales price, so it will be on correct listing status.
Continue sending the Listing Report to the listing agents and ask for status update. Thu, 07 Jun 2012 15:36:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2012-06-07T15:36:00Z I have been reviewing information ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ I have been reviewing information on your site for the homes in my area and am appalled at how wrong and out of date your records are for this vintage area. There is the house next door to me that is approx. 1000 sq. ft larger than you have listed. My neighbor added on to her house and did a total remodel and is a 3/2 and the house next to her is 2/1 and smaller and it is appraised for more. Something is definitely wrong with your records. You do have the right square footage on mine and the fact that it is a 3/2 but I also have 2 kitchens and it was totally renovated in 2007 and you show my house valued way less than I would expect. Especially when it has new dual paned windows, on demand hot water, new oak floors, new furnace with electronic ignition, new stucco, new sheetrock, new electrical, new linoleum, totally insulated including interior walls, 2 walk in closets, laundry room, new deck, prewired for telephone and cable, new automatic sprinkler system. You need to update your information especially when appraisers are looking at your site for values when people are trying to qualify for a refinance. There is more that I have done on my house but that is not my main concern. However the value does disturb me especially when you don't have all the facts on the homes in this neighborhood. You would need someone to search the old archives and get the city records updated. That's what I had to do to get my square feet corrected. Wed, 06 Jun 2012 17:36:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Zillow-Asks-How-do-we-improve-listings-quality/389179/ 2012-06-06T17:36:00Z
