It is most likely that your offer has been bettered by another one and that you are dealing with a disorganized listing agent. If you were near the top of the heap, they would be contacting you in a better time-frame.
So if your offer had an expiration time on it that has expired, you should be moving on to the next one. It isn't uncommon for buyer's to have to make offers on 5-6 homes before they begin to understand how to balance price, contingencies, financing and value in order to be successful in some markets. And even this is with the help of a good buyer's agent. Without the help, I don't know how buyers are ever successful. They claim to have multiple offers. Do you really like the house? How much are you willing to spend? Do you want to be involved in a bidding war? My suggestion is make your best offer. Set a deadline for a response. Let the agent or owner know you are looking at other properties and do look. If you don't get a response within your timeline walk away. As difficult as that may be. So we put in a higher bid. It now has been a week and two days and they still have not decided. At this point we just need to know if we are in the top running or if we move on, but they won't say anything their response is we gave not decided yet but we are taking the highest and best. Very disturbed by this whole process. Tue, 15 May 2012 17:53:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/how-long-does-the-owner-have-to-accept-an-offer/442857/ 2012-05-15T17:53:00Z
