Now is probably not a better time than six months from now. Foreclosures and job losses keep rising,inventory is still too high, and the financial climate is too unstable. I'll bet all my graduate work in mathematics and econometrics on this.

I think depending on which candidate people are favoring, they may be more optimistic about the economy after the election, and may have hope that things will change. I feel personally like a lot of the problems we are having in the real estate market are not helped by the constant bad media spin.

The truth as I see it is that now is a better time than ever to buy if you can afford a home and plan to stay there for at least a few years, or if you are investing. But the media never tells you that. ;)

I personally have had clients tell me that they are waiting to see what happens with the election before making their decision. I can't tell you that after the election it will jump back up but I do think there are people out there holding their breathe to see what happens next week. There are other factors involved of course but some buyers are waiting soley based on the election.

Fear, Fear, Fear... anyone watching the news, or reading the newspaper... is scared to death about tomorrow... unfortunately those of us tied to real estate are feeling double pressure... I don't think the election will hold much relief... Hang in there - I was reminded today of home loan rates at 18 percent back in the early 80's... this to shall pass...

it is called "unexplained phenomenon". A weird thing that happens after an election. But things do generally pick up after an election - people are more optomistic about the economy.

errr no, its called it the x mas buying season, within a week of nov 4th we have a president elect and within 1 week of that we have shopping to think about. where is the unexplained? point to the unexplained.

If Obama wins, they'll be a hellova lot more optimism nationwide, & worldwide.

If McCain somehow wins, instability in our markets, country, racial tensions are assured, as nearly all of Bush's staff stay in place. Guaranteed increasing national debt due to war(s).

I, for one, am holding off re. looking for new homes until after Obama wins. My spouses job (air-traffic controller) will be MUCH more secure, in an Obama administration.
