In addition to what Dunes wrote, many of those sites will allow you to set up a recurring search so that it emails you properties the moment they hit their sites. The benefit is that sometimes (often) these properties show up on the bank/government sites days before they hit the MLS's. In the case of WF, they often appear as "coming soon" months before they hit the market. Needless to say, good properties often have several buyers ready and waiting to pounce.
