The agreement made between you and the seller has no relevance on what the bank will agree to settle for if anything. The bank may not agree to budge at all, so you shoudl prepare to move on something else if it becomes available. What ever the real estate agent did will not come into play. Typically they just want any offer on the property so they can submit it to the lender and get a short sale approval. IF it does go great they get a comission and everyone walks away happy. If it doesn't go at least they know what level the bank will agree to go down to making it easier to sell. Please make sure that the price you agreed to offer is the price on the purchase agreement. Be patient.. The shortsale process can be tedious and sometimes frustrating. But if you have an experienced agent they will make sure that you are contantly updated even when there is no real updates.
