Zillow Advice: Buying Process - If my agent is related to the sellers of thehome I am pursuing, isn't it a big conflict of interest? http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/If-my-agent-is-related-to-the-sellers-of-thehome-I-am-pursuing-isn%27t-it-a-big-conflict-of-interest/469907/ Zillow Advice | Zillow Real Estate If you feel that you are ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/If-my-agent-is-related-to-the-sellers-of-thehome-I-am-pursuing-isn%27t-it-a-big-conflict-of-interest/469907/ If you feel that you are not being properly represented, and you have proof that the buyer agent and the seller are related, and this relationship has not been disclosed in writing, you do have recourse. As I said in my earlier message, first you need to comfront the buyer agent and take it from there. If that were to be the case, what would you want the seller to do that he/she has not done. Is there a solution to your issue? It is the buyer's agent (our agent) that we suspect is related to the sellers. We are concerned that throughout the negotiations and dealings with the sellers and their agent, our agent is acting more on behalf of the sellers' interests than ours. That is why we are concerned and feeling like there is a conflict of interest. Nothing was ever disclosed to us at any point. But we have knowledge that leads us to strongly suspect that they are related. And when we found out, it sort of put into perspective why we felt we were not being represented the best possible way as potential buyers. Unfortunately, we are well into the process. We just are not sure what to do at this point. The seller's agent and buyer's agent are both from the same realty firm. But they are not one in the same. In other words, the agent who is representing us as sellers is from the same firm as the seller's agent who listed the home. Also flat out let the agent know that you are concerned about the level of representation you are receiving and that you are thinking about or considering using a buyers agent. Being up front and honest about it will most likely temper the waters.
