Florida is full of people that are lucky enough to retire and move to the sunshine state. The 1st thing that any one considering buying a home whether retired of not is to check with your financial adviser if you have a lot of assets or with a local lender in the area that you plan on buying in.

There is not much worse than planning and looking for a home before you know what you can afford or what you budget should be. It all comes down to income and debt which equate to an equation called Debt-to-Ratio (ex. $1000 in monthly debt versus $3000 in gross monthly income equals 33% DTI). There are other potential factors regarding qualifying you, but these are the basics. If you have constant, reliable, sustainable debt, you should be able to qualify.
