Zillow Advice: Moving - Where To Buy A House In The Neighborhood http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Where-To-Buy-A-House-In-The-Neighborhood/524900/ Zillow Advice | Zillow Real Estate lol Welcome to California. ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Where-To-Buy-A-House-In-The-Neighborhood/524900/ lol Welcome to California. You will find that diversity in the Bay Area is the norm. If you prefer a less diverse neighborhood, you might consider an area in the City like Russian Hill but be prepared. Your neighbors there may be Asian (shutter) or gay (double shutter) and the average starter "house" will be at least 4-6 times what you will pay in Daly City minimum.

In the City, children are bussed to schools based on a lottery so they may attend a school in another part of the City with a high percentage of free and reduced lunch families or a more ethnically diverse student body that you are used to. You can see how neighborhoods break down ethnically/economically by using a site like city-data, but what you will find is that expensive neighborhoods in CA are bound more by income than by race.

No offense to you, but if you were not prepared to adapt to a more diverse area selecting the Bay Area was your first mistake. A gated community is not the answer as many of your upscale neighbors will be more diverse than you are currently used to.

You seem intelligent, so the choice is up to you. Accept, grow and learn what the wonderful Bay Area has to offer or move to a place where you feel more comfortable based on a lack of diversity alone. Sat, 18 Jan 2014 18:31:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Where-To-Buy-A-House-In-The-Neighborhood/524900/ 2014-01-18T18:31:00Z Mr. Schweitzer please give ... http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Where-To-Buy-A-House-In-The-Neighborhood/524900/ Mr. Schweitzer please give us a follow up on where you decide to move, this way my "ethnic" friends and can come rob your racist a$$. Diversity is everywhere & adding "no disrespect to them" doesn't make your comment any less disrespectful. Again, good luck to you. It's really a privilege to live in an area that once bordered between the Colorado Territory and Mexico. In fact, the Arkansas river in Pueblo was the actual dividing line. So we've been blessed by generations of Mexican Americans choosing to contribute and grow our city. You can be certain we have some of the best Mexican food in Colorado!

IT doesn't stop there, though. Before the turn of the century Rockefeller needed lots of workers to work at his new "steel mill" that he chose to build in Pueblo to get his "Standard Oil" across the country. Despite all the hard working folks we had here at that time it wasn't enough. He helped bring in thousands of ambitious immigrants from Italy and Slovic countries. He built lots of "employee housing" near streets like Mahren, Egan, Bohmen on smaller 25 foot lots so they could walk to work and build this great country with trains. We have great Italian food too!

I'm proud that all my friends growing up were neither white nor black --- just diverse and unique. I'm proud of that great Pueblo history! Sat, 18 Jan 2014 08:09:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/Where-To-Buy-A-House-In-The-Neighborhood/524900/ 2014-01-18T08:09:00Z
