If you do not qualify for financing, skip it. Or go talk to a private money lender and see what they might have to say. Another idea is looking through some of the lease or rental listings in your area and finding out if the landlord is interested in such an arrangement. Those type of listings are not plentiful in my area from what I know and have seen. However, I have seen a few opportunities and hopefully you will encounter some of your own.

I hope that yields you some results and best of luck to you! These things are rare, very rare, and that is for one very good reason. they don't work and are used mostly by owners to get more money from you by using the ploy that it is easy to own with rent to own. That is just not true and there are many pitfalls with the idea of it, and all at your expense.

First you have to make a large deposit, 5-10% is common and this is based on the agreed price that you will buy the house for in a year. Will the house be worth it then or not? To make rent to own work you must get a loan to buy it, you don't just rent it and it magically becomes yours, like a tv. If you can get a loan now, then buy a house. If you can't get a loan now why do you think you can in a year and are you willing to risk that deposit and the extra added to your monthly rent each month to attempt it? If you default you lose it all and out you go and the owner suckers in the next victim to do it again.

Just rent and buy when you really can buy.

Sun, 26 Jan 2014 18:51:00 GMT http://www.zillow.com/advice-thread/how-to-get-lease-to-own/525986/ 2014-01-26T18:51:00Z
