I came here my sophomore year from a Macon area private school after my dad's job transferred him to the Albany area for a year. Honestly I found the academics here to be a joke. I had to work extremely hard to maintain good grades in Macon and barely cracked open a book and made all A's honor roll the entire year here. They told me the "adanced" classes would be too challenging for me when I came yet my English teacher told me it was crazy they didn't put me in advanced classes because my work was better than some college students he had seen. The books we read in my freshman English classes in Macon were books not read until Junior year advanced English here. In comparison to other schools in the area sure Deerfield is probably a better choice. But in comparison to other schools in Georgia? There is no comparison. I also found this school to be extremely unwelcoming to new students to have very close-minded and sheltered students and couldn't believe how much sports were held to a higher importance than academics. Unfortunately people here seem to have a skewed idea that they attend the Harvard of private schools. Clearly they've never made it out of Albany.

Academically this school is probably the best in the area. However I found it weak in one important aspect. According to its webpage the school expects its students to maintain the school's commitment to "honor respect and civility " yet my experience was that these traits were not encouraged or enforced among the students or among some staff members which led to a less than ideal learning environment.

My children and grandchildren graduated there and they have received very good preparation for college and life.

Because my son cannot wait for school to start each year! What a testament to a great school!

I do not feel that Deerfield-Windsor adequately prepares students for challenging colleges. I graduated in '07 as an honor student which gave me a false sense of security as I am now merely an average student at my university. Deerfield-Windsor focuses too much on athletics and the nepotism associated with many sub-par teachers is appalling. Along with a closed-minded outlook on everything from applying to colleges outside of Georgia to political and religious affiliation I can't recommend Deerfield-Windsor as a good school. However it is the best private school in the area which is tragic. You're better off sending your children to boarding school.

DWS is an excellent school! We had our son at another private until he started DWS in the fifth grade. Our only regret is that he didn't start in pre-school. Oh well- batter late than never. My niece graduated in 2008 and was extremeley prepared and is top of the chemistry department at the university she is attending. This is the best education offered anywhere in this area.

Deerfield Windsor is an excellent school. The students are more than prepared for college. They excel because of the caring and skilled faculty and administration. We travel each day to attend and it is worth the trip. Our son is at Georgia Tech and doing well because of the preparation that he received. I attended DWS and cannot recommend it. It is years behind the best private school in Columbus (around an hour and a half away) academically; and has a number of teachers and coaches who display an appalling level of immaturity.

DWS is an awesome school. The faculty is top-notch and extracurricular programs abound. With 100% college placement at top schools this school is fantastic. I greaduated a few years ago and found the honors program at my top-rated university not very challenging due to the excellent foundation I received at DWS. Graduate school was a breeze after the biology department at DWS. The faculty are still among my first sources for advice on life and educational matters. The atmosphere is very caring class sizes are small and extracurriculars are great. The cultural and travel experiences offered are amazing.

I used to attend school in New Orleans but I had to leave so I came to Deerfield and I think it is a great school. There are great teachers a wonderful headmaster and well-behaved students. This school offers the best education a child can have and I would recommend that parents send their children here if they can afford it. We have a great football team and our school is very supportive. The only flaw is they don't have a wide variety of clubs to join. Grace King had over thirty clubs and during the first week of school the students were coming up with ideas for new clubs. Overall I think that Deerfield is the best school in the county and I hope that we continue to make the grades so that we can stay on top.
