Is there anyone concerned with the condition of the SY Jackson facility? Although the school has positive reviews and the school has high academic ratings I'm coming from out of state and am hesitant to send my children here because the building is not just old but looks uninviting. The K/1 playground is also a sorry sight. Any word on possible updates to the building?

I've had my four kids in private schools all over the U.S. as we move around. The education my two youngest got at SY Jackson was been priceless. The teachers and principal are amazing! My youngest went from struggling in math to being advanced. Teachers provide safe environment exceptional education. Parents are very involved. This has best elementary school my kids have ever attended. Best education! Principal sends out regular emails/keeps parents informed. School is very responsive and proactive. Couldn't buy a better education.

This is an amazing school! I enrolled my daughter in kindergarten here and could not be more pleased with the individual attention and quality of education that she has received. She is safe challenged and appreciated by the dedicated staff every day. The principal is outstanding and the teacher turn-over is virtually non-existent. We have heard great things from parents of children in other grades there and parents of multiple children at the schoo l as well. We are looking forward to our continued enrollment at this school!

Both my boys have attended SY and I'm a teacher there. My boys have received an outstanding education and I feel so fortunate to be a part of team that truly cares about kids. We have an active parent base an outstanding administrative staff and the best group of kids in New Mexico!

Walking through the school one can sense the vitality and spirit of the place. It has excellent creative teachers and scores well on national tests.

SY Jackson encourages parents to participate in the school community and it is the feeling of a community and family that makes our school great!

This is a school where teachers work who are completely and totally devoted to seeing that the needs of their students are taken care of. They go out of their way to find programs to help students be successful and the way they work as a team to accomplish this is truly inspiring! I was lucky enough to have my daughter attend this school for 3 years and I have been extremely fortunate to also have been able to work at this school for the same amount of time. I have gotten to see this school from both perspectives and there isn't a school in the area that can touch us!

This school has bulliying problems and the Jack did nothing for my older child they put my other daughter in special Ed when she only need speech. We took them out and now my little one can read and the older one is not getting bullied that much and that is because the pricipal is taking care of it. Also the older one is out of alot of special Ed classes Sy wants to keep them behind. Good luck people.

With some of the negative press about public schools in NM we had concerns about sending our daughter who is an advanced learner to public school. But we heard great things about SY Jackson and decided to give it a try. We couldn't be more happy and most importantly neither could our daughter. The teachers and administration at SY are tremendous talented hard working and very caring. As a public school I've been very pleasantly surprised at the creative flexible educational approaches they've taken and the resources they've been able to put towards ensuring our daughter is engaged and challenged. The school community as a whole is friendly welcoming and offers lots of fun activities for kids after school and many family events as well. I highly recommend SY Jackson.

This is my son's second year at S.Y. He was in the Kindergarten inclusion class last year and we loved it. My son was put in an advanced reading group this year and last year. The teachers have been fantastic and the principal is great. As a teacher I have seen many schools in Albuquerque that have poor administration and teachers. S.Y. is the best elementary school I have seen in New Mexico. S.Y. always has great parent involvement. I wish to thank Mr. Vermillion and all the teachers and staff for making these last two years such great ones for my son. Keep up the great work

My son just finished his 5th grade year and I have a daughter that will be in 2nd grade. This school has been amazing. I've never seen so much participation from parents and faculty as I have at SY Jackson.

Both of my boys went to SY Jackson and they received an excellent education. The staff was very supportive and really cared about them. I felt very safe with them at the school and felt fortunate to have such a good school in the neighborhood.

The teachers and staff are wonderful and you won't find a better more involved principal than Jack. I have first grade girls and we all love the school.

This is our last year at SY Jackson it has been a great experience for my children and our family. My children have thrived under the supervision of the teachers and the principal. In my opinion it is the best Elementary School in Albuquerque.

Our school is just wonderful...... Our staff are just awesome and so is our principal.

The staff was great. My son went to K and he thought it was great. However when we moved we learned that all the 'social' skills that they were teaching didn't really put him on the same level academically with other schools. In 1st grade at his new school we played 'catch up' all year!

I had high hopes for SY Jackson being that on paper it shines! However shortly after we started my hopes were dashed. There seems to be a lot of disciplinary problems. My child is only 'occasionally challenged.' The gifted program is weak and not accelerated math/language only 'enhanced' which translates into a monumental waste of time. The principal likes to brag that 80% kids are in the gifted program.LOL! (its too easy that's why) Many children are allowed to speak disrespectfully to adults. I frequently hear cussing in hallways.
