My son came from U46 in Illinois when he started 3rd grade he was reading at a 2nd grade level now he is at the end of 4th grade and is now ready at a 5th grade 7th month level. The school isnt perfect im sure but overall they have been great for my son.

This school is not where I like my child to be. The new principal is a disaster and she is in way over her head this year. My child has been here for 2 years and I cannot wait to get out of there. The teachers are fantastic and care so much for the children but the administration is what draws me away from this school.

Altamonte's new principal is making positive changes! Kids are excited about school and that speaks volumes! Our PTA is strong and has excellent leadership.

I am a parent of a 3rd grader here in Altamonte elem. and I must say that after moving from NY the school and teachers has helped my son adjust and given him all the support he has needed and has really started out the school year the way he should. I am so far very pleased with what I have seen and my son is extremely happy

I have had three children attend Altamonte. I am overall pleased with the staff. I've read the other comments and wonder if those parents would like to do a better job at the front desk. Children come in late because the parents are not responsible. This disturbs the rest of the class. I have watched parents come in and check out their child without a note to the teacher. It takes time to dismiss a child early to gather needed work. I help out sometimes in my children s classes. There are a lot of planners not signed daily. Many children do not have their homework checked by an adult. Some don t even have a backpack. Even worse in my opinion children are at school before the teachers arrive! Why is this the teacher s fault or staff?

I find front desk staffs bsolutely rude and down right mean. If this is how they treat me as a parent considering putting my child into this school - I am extremely concern about how they treat the kids there.

This is not a good school. The teachers are great but the the office staff is a different story. They are soo rude if you ask them a question they talk to you like your stupid. I know they have nothing to do with the education of the children- but they basically represent the school. You want to feel like you and your child/children are welcomed not a nuisance!! Two years in a row they let my son get on the wrong bus-the first time he was in kindegarten and when I called the office in TEARS asking where was my son- The said very rudely and non chalant "you need to call transportation" like I lost a puppy or something-needless to say my son wll not be going bck- and I do not recommend this school to anyone!!

My family moved to the SCPS district last year. My thoughts were that it would be an improvement however I have not been very impressed with this particular school. I even went to pick them up in the car pickup line and they could not find them....3 times!!! They sent them to the wrong area or on a bus when they weren't supposed to. The drop off and pick up line is a disaster and the staff seems to be running around in circles. Be forewarned that it will take you at least 30 min to drop off and/or pick up your kids on any given day..... I was happy with my childrens teachers but agree that sometimes the admin staff comes across harsh. This school is exactly how I rated it....average nothing more nothing less. I am looking into transferring my children next year.

AES is a great school the only problem is the image that the frint dest staff give to many people that ask for information sometimes rude unpolite... the nurses are great especially Viviana the principle is always present at every extra activities the teacher are the best. I would recommend this school to everybody.

Overall this school is pretty good. The teachers care about the students and they work hard to achieve the best test scores possible. More parent involvement is needed at this school.

This is a great school. My son has been here since K and is now in the 4th grade and my youngest just started K. I moved from Polk county where the school was horrible in every way. So if you are thinking of moivng in this area this is a great school.

Excellent programs for those needing extra help. Saw more improvement in our son in summer program then two yrs at another school. At previous SCPS we had to ask for everything at AES they offer to help and work with you.

this is my daughter's 2nd year. her k teacher was amazing but overall i am not happy. the administration seems dissatisfied and it shows. they are aloof and never seem to smile for anything. the other dividend parents seem very pretentious and i don't believe the school does enough to foster parent involvement. maybe it's all florida schools but i do not see any effort to allow the teachers to teach on different levels; all children are taught the same no matter what their level of intelligence. if your child happens to be brighter than the current material prepare for them to be bored. not enough extracirricular activities that stretch and nurture imaginative thinking. i have personally seen children treated very badly by staff. labeling children is apparent and instead of addressing the bad behavior they discipline the 'bad' child.

AES is an amazing school where the teachers are experienced and dedicated. The staff encourages parents to be involved. My two boys love their teachers and I do too. Mrs Bacchus teaches 1st grade and has such a kind and nurturing teaching style that has helped improve my son's reading skills 100%. Mrs Leventhal teaches 3rd grade and makes learning fun. This is important as the learning material becomes harder the children need to remember that learning is fun and exciting. Dr. Duvall the school principal is always present at school functions and when parents and staff approach her she is warm and approachable. I cannot think of anything negative to say about AES.... 'Where they teach children to soar'

Altamonte Elementary is a great school. If my child was missing assignments or were struggling in a certain subject I was always informed. The staff is great they show that they really care about my child education. Other than 5th graders seem to have a lot of homework I really like this school and I would recommend this school for any child to attend.

I think Altamonte Elementary is a great school! We always get the 411 on anything from the principals quill. It is great that you give us kids a certain amount of special classes. I would give this school an extra thumbs up in my opinion! It will be hard for me to leave a great school like this in fifth-grade! I love this school it rocks!

I have nothing but praise about this school. I find the staff caring about both the students as well as the parents. My son looks forward to going to school everyday. I love this school and so does my son.

My child attended kindergarten in this school and I as well as he love it. The teachers are wonderful and the environment is wonderful. It has brought out the best in my child and he has even learned to read in kindergarten.
