Excellent start for any child. The school is very diverse unlike a lot of the suburban schools in this area. The staff is very freindly and caring. I have two kids that attend Windermere elementary and honestly I have nothing negative to say about the school.

I had an earlier review removed so I will post another. My son entered Windermere in the 5th Grade after transferring from Hamburg Schools. He has special needs and I feel his teacher Heather Rogers did nothing to meet these needs and was condescending towards my son and myself. I would not recommend this school.

Windermere is terrific!!! The students are so proud to be there as well as the teachers and staff. There is a stong sense of community. There is a laser-like focus on academic success and achievement. The students and staff work incredibly hard. Windermere is a very special place!

I have twin boys that go to this school (Kindergarten). The staff from the principal to the teachers have been excellent.Their teachers are challenging my boy's in a supportive way always teaching. not just the three Rs but coping skills good citizen skills and respecting each other skills. What else could a parent ask for. This school routinely has things going on after school to keep the parents and community involved and up to date.

Windermere is a school where every staff member is focused on the children. The atmosphere is supportive and nurturing enabling the kids to work to their full potential. I have seen my son and the children in his classroom grow in so many ways not only academically but also in their character development. The focus of the school and our children in one of inclusion in this diverse environment where every individual is respected and supported. The Windermere community is doing it right and as a parent I am both proud and incredibly grateful to be a part of this outstanding school.

This is my son's 3rd year at Windermere. He started there with the UPK program. I have been involved with the PTA for all 3 years and have found it very rewarding. I recommend contacting the VP of Membership of the PTA. She will respond promptly to your request.

If you re a hands-on parent this is not the school for you and your child. Windermere takes a trust me I know what s best for your child approach. The staff is very condescending if you ask questions. District personnel ignore complaints and do not return phone calls. I submitted my membership to the PTA months ago and never received a response.

My daughter is in the 3rd grade and has attended Windermere since Kindergarten. Windermere is such a diverse environment which I absolutely love the teachers really work beyond expectations (they are really their for the students) there is such a huge parental involvement which is excellent to our children's learning experience and the lines of communication between school and parent is always open. Overall I feel truly bleseed to have my daughter in a great school and a safe and diverse environment.

My daughter attended kindergarten at Windermere. We were extremely pleased with her experience at the school! Wonderful teachers and Ms. Lavin the principal knows the names of every student and it is obvious that she cares deeply for each of them. There were 19 kids in her class with one teacher and a full time aide. There were also speech and ESL teachers in the classroom frequently as some of the students were new to the USA. My daughter is very bright and her teacher was able to keep her challenged and engaged while meeting the needs of a wonderfully diverse class full of children. We recently moved out of state and our new school has 27 kids in the class with one teacher no aides and fewer resources to meet the needs of my daughter. We miss and appreciate Windermere even more than we thought we would.

This school is a great public school. The curriculum is excellent and well implemented. It provides options like multi-age and looping opportunities which really serve the students well. Some people in the area mistakenly think Amherst's other elementary school is better because it has better test scores . They fail to recognize that many students are not native English speakers and are at a disadvantage when it comes to standardized tests. Yet studetns who attend Windermre benefit from the classroom diversity.

We've been very pleased with Windermere. The school has a great atmosphere--every adult at the school seems to know every child's name. With over 700 children that is quite an accomplishment and speaks well of the amount of individualized attention Windermere gives to each child. It also lends to a structured and disciplined environment. Children at Windermere generally know the rules and follow them. Our child has been at Windermere for four years and has had four excellent though very different teachers. Each has come to know our child's strengths and weaknesses and has tailored instruction and disciplinary techniques accordingly. Communications between parents and teachers are good. A great strength of Windermere is the diversity of the student body. Teachers and administrators as well as parents really value the presence of a multi-ethnic community.

I love this school. The looping program is a great way to leap frog your child into the next grade. They miss nothing. My son was ina class of 18 as a 1st grader. They had a full time aid and extra reading specialists that pushed in. The art and music and library programs were fantastic. All children receive free swim lessons in 3rd grade at the school pool. The community approach to this school made me proud to choose this school. A very diverse warm and professional learning environment.

I am happy that there is a diverse cultural population at Windermere. I would highly recommend Windermere Boulevard Elementary to any family.

I was blessed enough to have moved to this district last Summer so I have not experienced the frustrations of the 'principal turnover' that I have heard so much about. In my family's experience Ms. Lavin and Mr. Lewis are very dedicated principals with genuine concern for the best interest of all of our children here at Windermere. I have been impressed with the eagerness at Windermere to constantly improve. I am disappointed that my second grader seems to have had little to no challenge in any subject this year yet on the flip side - my kindergartner has received tremendous help through school resources with his personal struggles reading this year which has brought him up to grade level as June approaches. My family was welcomed into Windermere with open arms - from the principals to the teachers to the PTA and everyone in-between! Thank You Windermere!

I was very unimpressed with the lack of respect that teachers showed the parents this year along with the pricapal who never insisted that his teachers be held responsiable for there actions. I feel if we are trying to teach our children good manners theyteachers should also be taught that showing lack of respect is not good manners. I also disagree with the 'doggie rewards' some female teachers gave. My 4 children have had a very rough time.
